We stayed again at The Crow's Nest in Sept/Oct 2011 after our first trip in Jan '01. This trip was for five weeks in total - 36nights, and we stayed the ENTIRE time at The Crow's Nest!
From our wonderful greeting as returnee's to our sad farewell's at the end of our trip we have never, in over 30+ trips to Fiji, felt more comfortable and at home in a hotel as we have done here.
The Crow's Nest offers very clean rooms which have cooking facilities, ours had a full bathtub/shower, split level accomodation catering for our family with master bed upstairs and single beds downstairs. Ocean views to die for - with just a few second walk to the beach - we were on the grass tier and the lawn was a great spread to play for the kids! Our room was serviced and mopped and sheets changed regularly by friendly housekeeping staff. The little deck out the front was a great place for breakfast - what a view! The wireless internet was a wonderful new feature!
The pool area is great with ocean views again and close to the bar and restaurant. We took our own pool blow up toys and were not inclined to swim elsewhere! The pool water was warm and refreshing and it was not overcrowded like the big resorts can be!
The gardens are kept immaculately! A trophy to the groundskeepers who work so hard and are very proud of their work - deservedly!
The restaurant menu was great and changed regularly - despite there being other restaurants nearby for variety - we never felt the need in FIVE WEEKS to eat elsewhere. The chef, Aklesh was more than accomodating and cooks a wonderful chicken schitzel sandwhich - you will be hard pressed to find one of these in Fiji anywhere else!
The reception was quick to act on any requests and very helpful when needed.
ALL the staff were so very friendly - with us and our children. Everyone greeted us by name and we became friends very quickly - but they still maintained a professional distance at the same time and allowed us our family time and privacy.
I read the review of one of the other people on Trip Advisor stating the walkway was noisy - which is true at certain times, HOWEVER - after having stayed at major resorts in Fiji with hundreds more guests at any one time, I have experienced FAR worse. Where possible the Manager, a charming man, Rupesh, tries to spread the guests out to avoid this issue - when bookings are high - everyone tries to respect other people's space. Try sharing a pool at a major resort and see how crowded and noisy that can be in comparison.
With horse riding on the beach nearby, a short $2fjd drive to Kula Eco Park, local massages, easy to organise baby sitting (and cheap),$7fjd taxi to Sigatoka, plus nearby local shops for basic groceries and so much more, who needs the hussle and bussle of the big resorts OR the expense! The Crow's Nest offers everything and more!
We have already re-booked for next year - and are so impressed with The Crow's Nest - we have booked for six weeks and will not stay elsewhere ever again!
THANK YOU
