“Lovely and relaxing holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2011

We stayed at Tambua Sands for 3 nights as part of our 10-day trip to Fiji 2 weeks ago and just loved it! The location is very nice, fronting the lagoon with tropical backgrounds. The manicured grounds/garden are beautiful with lots of flowers, palm trees, and very well looked after.

We stayed in a beachfront bure and although it was right in the middle of the hot season we all slept well at night, including our 2 ½ year old boy, who could also have his afternoon naps, as there is a big ceiling fan and you can open all sides of the bure (with mosquito nets so no problem).

The food was very good especially the Mahi Mahi with home made potato mash, yum and of course the Kokoda, yum! Very fresh also – as I am pregnant I was a bit worried about the food when we arrived in Fiji, but had no problem at all with the food at Tambua Sands and we had all our meals there during 3 days.

We spent most mornings exploring the lagoon as the tide was coming out. My son could spend hours in the warm waters looking at the fish. There are also sea kayaks that you can use for free and free snorkelling gear – my son loved it too.

And of course a swimming pool but we haven’t used it much, we spent most of our time on the beach - we had the beach for ourselves. You can swim in the lagoon at high tide, no problem, as it is quite deep, perfect for snorkelling too. But I would recommend to wear reef shoes.

Overall, we had a great stay, very relaxing. In the evening we could enjoy the sunset from the restaurant, over the lagoon. It was very private. It was low season, and only 5 bures were occupied, which I think it’s a shame as this little boutique resort really deserves to be better known by visitors to the coral coast. The staff is so genuinely friendly and accommodating and so is the new Manager, Barbara, who would always spend some time discussing with her guests.

The resort is located on the best part of the coral coast. We drove there from Nadi and found that the first 1 ½ hour was not very interesting. But by the time we got to Tambua, we were surrounded by tropical jungle, and magnificent views over the lagoon.
Definitely a good choice if you are looking for a boutique-style accommodation away from the crowds of big resorts.

Although the bures were immaculate and very nice/comfortable, the Manager advised us that they would go through major renovations so keep an eye on this little gem!

For larger families or groups, they also have double interconnecting bures.

“Most relaxing but Fun holiday ever”

Myself and a friend decided to go away for a holiday and I haven't been to Fiji for about 13 years now. When we decided to stay at Tambua Sands, It was the most enjoyable, fun and relaxing holiday I have been on for years. The staff are extremely fun and nice to be around, teaching you to climb coconut trees and make you drinks of an evening. The staff try their best to know every holiday maker that enters the resort, which makes it so much better. When we went, there was only around 10 people staying at the time, but that didn't matter. The rooms are good, each with a spectacular view of gardens and the tidal coast with literally a 5 metre walk til you hit the sands of the beach. I would recommend Tambua Sands Beach Resort to everyone.

“GREAT STOPOVER”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

We stayed at Tambua Sands for 3 nights and wished it was longer. The resort is in need updating, but it still has many good qualities, The staff were excellent and the bures clean and comfortable. The food is enjoyable though a little limited for choice. An ideal place to stay if you want to chillout and get away from the crowds, Barbara and her staff made our stay even more enjoyable by the way they looked after us. Please don't change it too much.

“Relaxing, quiet and friendly but in need of an upgrade (which is happening!)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

We stayed at Tambua Sands for two nights and unfortunately it rained and was cold, so we didn't really get the full experience. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It was very quiet but we found fellow guests to chat to at the bar. We stayed in a Beachfront Bure which was excellent value (only $130 FJD). It was very spacious, but dark and the shower wasn't great.

The resort is located between the main road and the sea but stretches a long way. The Bures are very spread out so you have lots of privacy. It's a pretty location and I'm sure in the sun it would have been lovely to lounge by the pool. The restaurant menu for both lunch and dinner was very limited, but the food was good.

A new manager took over two months ago, after the resort was bought by Warwick Hotels. There are currently small improvement plans underway, however the resort has so much potential that hopefully Warwick will invest and modernise it. Then Tambua Sands will be the place to stay in Sigatoka!

“Affordable and friendly in beautiful surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

We found Tambua sands more affordable than some of the other resorts. It has a new manager who is working very hard to improve the restaurant. The accommodaton was excellent, the restaurant was poor, too expensive, and not much selection. The manager was very helpful but some staff felt tired, indifferent and not very communicative. We would stay again if only to see if the manager lives up to what we belief the resort could improve. But overal it was peaceful, relaxing, clean and afordable.
