“Lovely”

Myself and my husband have just returned from a trip from here. I felt i needed to say a big thank you to all the guys on the island for making my holiday stress free and very relaxing. After travelling in around Australia it was really nice to go to a deserted island with very little to do. The staff were amazing and we were delighted to meet the owners of the island too. The fire shows were amazing, these guys are so fit. I felt we had a sense of the Fijian living instead of going to any other resorts. We loved it. Kava was not my cup of tea. The food was good but I would of preferred something other than beans on toast for breakfast but that is me being picky. I loved the little kitten (Lucky). So thank you guys and we will return some day. I would also like to thank Seb, Tuks, Rita, Mas, Scooby doo, Gus, Fish, Kenny, Clint, Paul, The message lady (with the wonderful healing hands sorry forgot your name) and Sue and Graham. (sorry if I have missed anyone you were all great and made us feel very welcome on your island.

Room Tip: Book a lodge as they are the only rooms with private facilities

“Day and Night cruise combo”

PROS
1 Beautiful island. Small enough to go all the way round in 15min.
2 Wonderful welcome, imitation of cannibals attacking the boat on arrival. I think I was more blown away by the hot bodies of the guys welcoming us, I was in the zone and I don't remember much else until someone tapped me on the shoulder to go and make my payment at the reception
3 You can pay by credit card though you incur a 5% charge
4 better than other cruises as they had something going on all the time to keep the guests entertained
5 Loved the coconut demo again distrusted by the hot guy pouring coconut cream into my mouth from all the freshly grated coconut.
6 The fire dancing was really awesome. I was mesmerised -again hot bodies spinning fire and knives.
7 Turtle viewing - sooo cute lol

CONS
1 Jungle bush walk with the medicine man was disappointing. It was a 2 min trip up and down a track. i was expecting a proper bush walk through a jungle, maybe 30 min. But after I walked round the island I realised, there was never going to be a descent bush walk. This should really be renamed as it is misleading.
2 When I made the booking I was advised that the tour included free soft drinks, much to my disappointment as all drinks were for sale. i didn't have enough to keep myself hydrated on this hot day. Everything including the water was at a cost.
3 When it rains, the water gets very muggy and you cant do any snorkeling as the water was brown. Unfortunately this is the part i was looking forward to the most. Unfortunately this got told to us when we were already on the bus and we were on our way there. So there was no option to change the dates.

Room Tip: 1 If you plan on going snorkeling and there is alot of rain the consider the option of postponing th...

“A warm welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

After delays my husband and I arrived from NZ at about 10pm. They wouldn't normally pick up at this time (they do it in the morning), but because the delay was out of our control and we were only due to stay on the island 2 nights we were collected from the airport and taken by boat along the river and onto the island where we were warmly met by staff singing and playing instruments on the beach. They had even saved us some dinner and kept the bar open for us and shared their kava with us. What a welcome to a beautiful island!
We woke up to sun and sand. It's a gorgeous little island and was the perfect respite. We kayaked around the island, chilled on the beach, drank beer and were well fed. The staff are amazing and you get a real sense that they're a family with their splendid Fijian ceremonies and dancing that entertained us no end. Clean rooms/huts and bathrooms if a little sandy! The food which was part of a meal plan was tasty and plentiful and there was lots of activities organised in the day if you wanted to keep busy. Highly recommend.

“A lovely place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I stayed in one of the Island Lodges that had recently been refurbished. The only downside is being one of the most expensive rooms, you can hear the generator running until midnight and then it turns on at 7am so you don't get to hear the crashing of the waves on the beach.

There are times throughout the day when you will have day trippers visiting and this is a good opportunity to join in the activities that have been scheduled (except the crab racing). Just join in with the visitors and enjoy. The dancing is amazing and if you can make sure you are on the island when they have a night show as the fire show is amazing, especially at night.

The all inclusive food package is good, but the regimented times might not be to your liking. I never made breakfast as it was just a bit too early for me.

Snorkeling is good, but it is "deep" water snorkeling, taking a boat out into the bay further. This might not be great for those who like to stay close to shore. There aren't many places to stand when you are out deep. Enjoyed an afternoon fishing and caught a fish which the staff nicely cooked up for me for dinner that night.

You will need to bring some music (ipod with plug in speakers or guitar) as at night there isn't any music, not even the staff sitting around singing which was a little disappointing, especially with only a handful of guests on the island. If you are up after midnight someone will come and light the bonfire giving about another hour of light.

This is a very special island, with very friendly staff and in a unique location away from the crowds. You are welcomed to the island and also farewelled like you are part of the family, not just a guest. Enjoy Robinson Crusoe as it is very unique, but if you are looking for a 4 or 5 star resort this is not the place, but if you want a relaxing unique experience, then Robinson Crusoe is the place!

Room Tip: Lodge rooms are the only rooms with hot and cold running water inside them.

“disappointing”

We visit the island after several hotel workers informed us it was a wonderful trip!! We arrived on the island after a very long journey. We decided to do the snolkerling activity, as we were boated out into the middle of the sea there was no mention of safety at all. We were told to jump of the boat you couldn't even touch the bed of the sea (the sea that day was rough) and there were several people who were weak swimmers. The guides were in the sea garthering there lunch! Whilst we had to rescue a young lady and help the captain get others on the boat as the conditions were really bad, not a good start and a waste of 2 hours !
Once we arrived back at the isand the lunch was provide which was of a good standard, unfortunatley you had to pay for drinks even water. Even though the internet advertisment says free drinks and trips!
My partner and I decided to go on the fishing trip ($F70) in a small boat I felt unwell half way through and was dropped off on land after 30mins my partner went back out (I made sure that a man went with her) the guide made several inapproprate remarks to her of a sexual nature.
The activities in the afternoon were crab racing - not much fun in that!! and the rest is not worth writing about. As for the small 2 minute medicine man and turtle trip, it was a worker crouched down with a shell on his back! We were then the only ones to go and play volleyball, which turned out to be a fun hour for the staff, who had also had too much kava by this point and became very competitive.
The island itself isn't like it actually looks on the brochure with white sand and clear water, it's got lots of weed and dirty sand.

The only decent thing about this trip was the evening show and getting the boat home. We would recommend the evening, the show is awesome.

Don't waste your money go on the trip Jewel of Fiji, that was ace!

I am pleased this guest enjoyed our GREAT SHOW & FOOD however i find her comments about safety & staff very confusing as we were on duty that day and nothing was reported to us and if it was we would have taken them very seriously as it has never happened in the 10 years we have owned the property . We take safety very very seriously and have 4 guides to 28 guests whom we supply great meals to every day so as for gathering food from our beautiful sheltered reef I DON'T THINK SO as the captain would not allow it aboard the boat from staff or guests as we have a reef protection policy in place we also only snorkel for 30 min as you would miss lunch and our other great things to do like coconut tree clime & taste, coconut story, jewelery making, kayaking, massage & much more . We also pride our self on the the great family feel guests experience from our amazing staff and sexual harassment you would think is serious enough to report to management & this did not happen from this guest. Now in regards the guests other complaints about our turtle viewing this is done in fun and is enjoyed by most of our other 20 thousand guests we have per year we are sorry this guest did not get what it is about. As for the free drinks we do not offer this on our web or brochure our tour is great value already & Robinson Crusoe jetty is located only 45 minutes from nearest pick up point our boys DO NOT drink kava in the day our water & beaches are beautiful like our amazing staff and YES Jewel Of Fiji is a great tour as is Robinson Crusoe i'am truly sorry this guest did not enjoy her whole day but did enjoy our great show & food
