As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Zelda whom checked us in really quickly. The room wasn't that big but it had a really nice balcony overlooking the beach & ocean which does have an amazing sunset. the bathroom had hot water with a great big shower suitable for 2 people. It had a fridge and a tv with only 2 channels. The aircon was perfect. The pool was really nice too. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was great & cheap too. The bed was really comfy too. the hotel has a few resident cats and a gorgeous dog, Lindsay. On the down side, we stayed for 9 nights and the room wasn't clean not even once. I changed my own sheets and replaced the rubbish. the inside of the cupboard, the drawer & the balcony had mice poo droppings wich i found to be disgusting. The beach is very dirty and we didnt go in it once but its nice to walk on the beach in the evening with the awesome sunset in the back. Nadi isnt the best place to stay for more then 2 nights. I reccomend going to the islands for longer. We regretted we didnt stay long & enjoy the real beauty of the Fiji Islands.

All in all a really pleasant stay and i do recomend it.

I loved meeting Mama - the hostel was really friendly and she was so lovely, always trying to help me. I'll never forget Mama!

Beautiful hostel with shocking owners. When I first went to stay in this place it looked awesome. I thought I was going to love it, however the fact that mama (the owner) has a 40 year old son who lives with her (I know, we all thought the same) largely ruined the experience for me and my friends. He drinks, smokes and abuses the staff and the guests. He stays there with his wife and child and constantly causes problems for his mother. We were told of how she has had to bail him out several times, which we saw for ourselves. Having headbutted one of my friends in the face for absolutely no reason, the police were called, only for mama to offer them drinks and a hot meal, which worked perfectly meaning her son was once again let off the hook.

If you want to enjoy nadi, go stay in Smuggler's Cove. Far better service, with great food and a lively atmoshphere in the evening. Tropic of capricorn has a few guests in the bar area, with most steering clear, choosing to enjoy their evening rather than spend it trying to avoid the alcoholic son that roams the building looking for a fight.

Although a beautiful hostel from first impressions, but i must say my stay here was awful!!
The first time i stayed i had a great time. The second time i stayed at mamas she greated me with the biggest smile all was great until i went to get a beer and unfortunatley met her son Seymore who stayes at the backpackers with his mom at the age of 38.
Later that day i was having dinner and he walkes past the bar and takes a beer, the barman, a local figian called Wahka told him to put it back or pay, so seymore walkes up to him shouting how me owns the place, he then spat in his face and called him a [--] [--], this then lead to the barman hitting seymore! Ruined Dinner for sure!! Cut a long story short a load of police arrived, but nothing was done, seymore walked free. making things worse. This was prob bec at the time i was there the goverment was in a miliary coo, and i think still is. The next night seymore gets too drunk with some mates in the backpackers, he ends up headbutting a boy from london half his age and then when his wife tries to pull him away he hit her. Mama the owner just shouts at him and tells him to shut up! WTF stup up! Thats not enough, this man is the scum of the earth, all he does is get wasted and assult ppl.
I am writing this so you guys know DONT GO THE TROPIC OF CAPRICORN, THEY DONT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS!
If your looking for another place to stay, i stayed in horizon, it wasnt to bad, it isnt pretty looking but the service comes with a big smile, also i got a gr8 room for 50 dollers a NIGHT 4 2 ppl, ensuite and balcony! Or you could go stay at smugglers backpackers, ALWAYS A GREAT CHOICE, they do great dinner and bar afterwards is lively, people lying on hammocks, it is a great hostel!
