“airport hotel”

Flooding and canc. flight kept us in hotel for 2 days. Plant is fine--nice pool, rooms ok (tho' had a couple of roaches.) Food was poor. We used the buffet ---which was our only option on 2nd day as this was in our voucher; slim pickens of poor food--and staff lost interest when guests were vouchered. To be fair, the breakfast (included) was fine but other meals best order al a carte.

“Find Another Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I was forced to stay here due to Flt. cancellation, airline paid for everything, I got internet for my stay (24hrs) it worked for about 1hr and then quit, called to report the problem had a tech come to my room got it going for 15min. and it quit again, they final got it working 1hr before I checked out, with a big hassle with the management. Had my meals paid for at the hotel restaurant the food was horrible, ended up eating rice and a roll for dinner, cause they wouldn't let me get something from another restaurant (this was the end of my 2 month vacation and i had no money left) breakfast was OK. Lunch they let me order off of the in room menu I got a BLT w/FF, BLT was good, while eating the FF I bit into what seemed to be a pebble and broke my tooth, told management about this and they didn't seem to care at all, dinner that night was paid for I went to the airport with out dinner and sat there for 3hr before my Flt. rather than stay at the hotel. Room was old and dank, 3 channels on TV. This is the first time I've write a review like this and am a frequent traveler think twice before booking a room here!!!

Room Tip: another hotel

“Choose your room carefully”

Had to stay here twice to make connecting flights to and from Sydney. It is conveniently close to airport but no aircraft noise.

First night we had an OK room - 105. it's not great, quite tired but reasonably clean. Pillows were lumpy, air con noisy but overall it was good enough for proximity to airport.

The second night, a week later, we asked for a room away from public areas (to avoid noise from swimming pool and Fijian band in lobby). We got room 123. Same room set up (again lumpy pillows) but this one in the block Room 123 upwards, was so musty and smelly that it gave me a headache. We left air con on for 4 hours when we went into Nadi (15 minutes) and room smell only slightly improved. So, moral of story, check the room before you take it!

Other tips: use the shop not the coffee shop to buy soft drinks - much cheaper and better range.

If you ask hotel to get you a taxi, you will get one from their preferred supplier and hopefully it will be better than the one we got which was so old and decrepid that I wondered if it would make it!

It was also meter-less and we were charged FJ$25 into town. That's probably OK as it was nearly FJ$10 for the short ride from the airport. There is a free shuttle but we had to wait 45 minutes for it on the first night so the next time we took a taxi to avoid the potential wait.

“Average Accomidations...but best we found in real fiji”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our 10 night trip. The rooms were ok, 2 double beds with crappy pillows. The bathroom was small and the shower had little pressure. The pool area was pretty nice with a large swimming pool, a small childrens pool and what i think was a hot tub (who needs a hot tub in Fiji). The room rate included a small buffet breakfast, which again was just ok. We found the staff friendly and happy, but not super eager to help. More often than not we had to look for a waiter inorder to order drinks or food. Had we not travelled to other hotels around Fiji I would have been every disappointed in this hotel, but this was standard if not better than standard for fiji.

“Well located, but that is it.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The boyfriend and I stayed at the Tanoa for one night before catching our flight to New Zealand. It does have all the amenities, but in an international hotel, I did not expect to find cochroaches. That spooked me out. I was anxious to get out of the hotel the next morning. The staff at reception was nice enough to keep our luggage (we had to check out before it was time to go to airport) until we were ready to load on to the shuttle to the airport.

We took a bus ride to town and came back on foot which was fine.
