“Just right place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

If you're looking for a good value with cleanliness, loveliness, and friendly hosts, this is the place. Not directly on the beach, but just a short walk down the path is a good snorkeling spot and just what you'd expect in sand and surf The Johnsons couldn't be nicer and were very attentive to our needs. They arranged transport, scooter hire, and for a "self-catering" establishment, we felt well looked after.

The only caution I might suggest is that if you like to spend a little time in your room in the afternoon, get the extra-cost air conditioning option. Our cabin was very hot (summer in the tropics), but our host was quick with an extra fan to help us out. By bedtime, everything was plenty cool for sleeping.

We did lunches up the coast at the very pricey establishments and didn't feel that we were missing anything.

Room Tip: The garden cottages are spacious and, although ours opened into the main entrance courtyard, we felt...

“Wonderful stay at Cooks Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Me and my wife had a wonderful week at Cooks Oasis. Arriving in the early morning we were met on arrival by Eric who helped with our bags. This was the first instance of the owners' friendly and helpful service. Roselle was great with arranging transport or activity bookings. When we visited they were running a special so we got 5 days free scooter hire which was great.

As others have said, there are heaps of 'freebie's for you to use such as snorkles, fins and reef shoes (these are a must have because of all the coral around). There are heaps of DVDs as well which you can watch either downstairs or in your room. The BBQ next to the pool is a great way to cook up a yummy dinner, or use the kitchenette in the room.. choice abounds.

Location wise it's less than 10 minutes by scooter into town and the weekend market and not far from the airport either - I was worried we'd notice flights taking off or landing but needn't have worried.

Tip - grab a beach chair and go down to the beach and watch the wonderful sunset. Being situated on the western side of Rarotonga, these are just amazing to watch.

“More than meets the eye”

Even though we only stayed here at The Cooks Oasis for two days, the small package of a self contained room offered simplicity in paradise. This Oasis is only meters up from the beach, an easy stroll to restaurants and has a very conveniently located liqour store right across the road which makes it easy to top up on mixes and munchies.
The owners, Eric and Roselle made my partner and I feel right at home by being so inviting and so easy to talk to, as if you were talking to an old friend, their kiwi flare and humor are only part of what makes them so hospitable. The Oasis is affordable, clean and located in a fantastic spot - not far at all from the city and the bus stops right outside the drive way if you don't have your own transport. We stayed in Villa 4 which has all the offerings of a unit / flat i.e. kitchen with oven and microwave, the grounds have a miniature cooling down pool (but then who needs that when your back yard is a clear blue ocean) free use of water gear i.e. brand new kayaks and much more. It was definitely what my partner and I needed to relax and unwind after a whirlwind week in Rarotonga.
Many thanks Eric and Roselle

Room Tip: There is no problem selecting a room as each villa will cater for any size group i.e. singles, coupl...

“Intimate”

For our second visit to Rarotonga we were looking for smaller, more intimate accommodation than the larger resort we stayed at last time. Cooks Oasis ticks all the boxes - it is really relaxed and has everything you would want - even a liquor store right across the road! Eric and Roselle are very friendly and interested in what you are doing (we were there for the Vaka Eiva festival). We have never been to better serviced accommodation - spotless.

Room Tip: We were in Studio 1 next to the driveway - more sensitive sleepers may prefer one of the other units...
