This hotel is a little worn out and not very clean. It's cheap place to sleep near centre, nothing more. Don't expect any other services. When we wanted to pay in pesos they tried to scam 500 pesos from us by using wrong exchange rate. So beware and check your bill twice.

I read a few bad reviews of this place and was a little wary, especially as the taxi slowed down Uruguay outside the shabby doorway. There were no chocolates on the pillow or luxurious toiletries in the bathroom but neither were there bed bugs or cockroaches. It is what it is; a cheap place to stay within walking distance of the old city and the center. Very cheap and reasonably cheerfull.

Arapey is a disaster. It was our worst hotelexperience, all categories, during our two months trip in South America. It is nothing at all as their website suggests. OK, it is fairly clean, but the rest is a joke. The service is non existing, the guys at the reception are so unpolite and so unserviceminded that you feel as a big burden for the hotel. They are greedy and generosity is a word unknown.

It is fabulously over decorated and resembles something out of a Miss Marple set. Super clean and mega cheap. Bloke on reception is a miserable so and so but you can't have it all. Word of advice though, pay in cash dollars (to avoid their criminal exchange rate and 4% Visa fee) and have the right money. They do not have change (or rather they do but would rather not part with it) and will insist that this is somehow your fault and that you need to rectify it (by trawling round for a casino at 11pm) with no effort on their part. Still, I would stay again as it is so cheap.
