The hotel is right next to a string of bars/restaurants - perfect if you want to stay out and eat or party. That might be an issue for people trying to sleep, but we were out late and from New York City, so it didn't bother us at all. It's also around the corner from 2 of the main plazas. It's about a 15 minute walk to Puerto de Mercado.
Our room was renovated. The hotel is in a very old building and looks not so good from the check in area, but once you go up the elevator you see you're in a beautiful historic building. Our room had a balcony as well. Price and location were great. The carpet had some stains on it, but whatever.
We saw two rooms - one with the bed lofted and another with a king bed, small desk, in a very large room. Both were nice.
