I only stayed one night, and this is hands down the worst experience ever and I've had some not so good experiences before.
I was only in town for the night, so did some walking around the city to see what Montevideo had to offer. After a few hours, decided to look for a hotel and siesta for a bit. I was a bit unsure about the city and there were not many hotels, so when I stumbled upon the Four Points, I thought I had lucked out. It has been a while since I stayed with Sheraton, and had heard good things since the company overhauled their brands, so thought I would give it a try. Went to the desk to see if they had a room, and they did. The rate was quite expensive for the brand, but, having not seen any other hotels, figured the experience would be good. Went up to my room, and looked around. The room was adequate, until I turned around to see a giant stain cover 1/4 of the bed spread. I immediately called the front desk to report the room. They did give me a new room, but another stain. After a third room, not stain on the bed, I was tired, room was adequate, so I stayed.
After walking around the city some more, decided to head back to the hotel for dinner, since most of the restaurants were closed. The menu was very limited, and not the same menu that was shown in the room. Turns out, the room menu combines both the main dining and bar menu, but this is never told. There were a few things on the menu that looked good, so decided to order. Turns out, this was a mistake, as it was the worst piece of beef I have ever had. It was dry, overcooked, bland and terrible. Since none of the staff was responsive to anything, I opted to tell the front desk about the experience, and lack of service the next day.
Went back to the room to shower, when I noticed the tiles were all cracked, broken and the shower itself was filthy. Add this to the list.
Went to the elevators to go check-out, but no elevator came. After about 5 minutes of waiting, looked to see if we could find the elevator - interior atrium, and saw it was stuck at the top. So we called the front desk from the house phone next to the elevator and they told us the elevator was working fine. I told them the elevator was not coming and we had been there 5 minutes, and they again told them it was working and they could see. I said I could see it and it wasn't working. I glanced over to the front desk to see them all taking to each other and not paying attention to any of the guests.
After a maid made a call in, the elevator started working and I went to check-out. Got to the desk and the associate took my credit card, rang me up, and as he was putting my receipt in the envelope, asked me how my stay was while talking to one of the other associates. I say it was the worst experience I have ever had and he continued to put my invoice in the envelope and continue to talk to the other associates. As he was handing me the envelope, he finally asked if he had heard me say the experience was bad. I told him yes and explained all the details of the terrible restaurant service, food, dirty rooms, etc to which he responded "sorry" and sent me on my way.
I got back to the states and contacted the hotel, to which I received one email stating it would be looked into so it didn't happen again (not even an apology). I tried to post a notice to corporate, which was rejected because it was bad. I contacted customer service with Starwood who said they would contact the hotel and follow up with me (I'm still waiting). Also posted a review on the hotel's site with the new Starwood review system, not posted due to lack of reviews. Tried one more time with customer service and they asked me for details (thought this was being looked into).
Needless to say, worst experience ever. I would not stay at this hotel nor at a Sheraton, as they do not care about their guests or anyone.
Room Tip: Pick a different hotel.
