We stayed 9 days at the Los Angeles, starting from January 2,2011. In fact we arrived there about 1 am of January 3. The first thing that really called my attention is its location, near everything, almost in front of the Entrevero Square and a very short walk from the Palacio Salvo and The Independencia Square. We checked in and were shown our room. First looks deceived us. The room had no air conditioning. We were given a fan. We kept the fan on the nine days we stayed there without a minute break. Montevideo is by no means a hot city, so the fan did very well, but air conditioners lovers would have had problems. For the kind of traveler I am, a hotel room is just a place I keep my things in, take showers, use the toilet and rest after a long day journey, so the room was much more than enough. clean, nice bathroom and a confortable bed. The room was cleaned and had its towers changed every day. My room was on the first floor, next to the cafeteeria so there was some accasional noise from people chatting. Nothing to disturb.
The staff was nice and helpful and the coffee was ok for what I paid.
If hotel facilities is important for you on your trip. If you are looking for swimming pool, and room service, the Los Angeles is not your hotel. The Radson, which is nearby, must be it, but be ready to pay 4x more.
I will be back to Montevideo in 2012 and will stay at the Los Angeles again for sure
