“Good Hotel Close to Main Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

My friend and I stayed at this hotel and found it value for money. The reception and front door staff weere very friendly and welcoming to non spanish speakers. The rooms were a little small but were quite satisfactory for a short stay. The hotel is so close to the main street and most of the attractions in Montevideo.

Room Tip: There are rooms that face the street and others an internal courtyard. Probably the latter are quie...

“Convenient for Business Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2010

Old hotel, conveniently located in the downtown of Montevideo with everything available at walkable distance - be it shopping, dining or nightlife. The staff at the lobby is very friendly and helpful though not all of them are conversant with English. Get all your questions answered when you meet someone who knows English :-)

Rooms are not too spacious and the wash room is a little too tight. I thought there was room for further improvement when it comes to overall presentation of the room and bathroom. There is availability of snack basket and bar in every room which helps once you are back from a long day at work.

Complimentary breakfast is served with a good spread of bread, ham (jamon), brownies, cakes, pastry, butter, jam, milk, juice, fruits and coffee. It gives a good start to the day especially with someone or the other playing the piano at the lobby.

Room service is prompt. Food is available in the restaurant though there is not much variety and price is high. Overall, the hotel is highly priced considering the standard it offers.

“too small, too dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2010

It´s a very located hotel but it´s very old. The beds are too narrow. The towels are old and they don´t change they daily. The shower is the worst part - narrow, small and with disgusting curtains (we could see pubic hair on it from the previous guests). really really disgusting. the staff is friendly and helpful. the place for the breakfast is also very small and the quality of the food is not that good as people are saying. there is a reasonable variety but it doesn´t look fresh.

“Not Again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2010

Our stay was part of a package tour. We asked for 2 beds but were shown a room with 1 double- way too small since my husband is quite large. We were given a very small room with 2 narrow beds- nothing like the picture on their web site. We had to ask for a glass since there was only 1 & extra pillows were needed. The air conditioner was extremely noisy but it was too hot in the room to do without it so we had 2 nights of restless sleep. No toiletries were available except soap. The rooms certainly need refurbishing. Breakfast was fine. Staff very co-operative & friendly. Good location. I like my creature comforts too much to recommend this hotel.

“Reasonable, friendly, a little old, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

We received two connecting rooms for 130 US$, which was quite good for family with 3 girls aged 4, 7 and 9.
The hotel is quite old, in the rooms this is noted especially in the bathrooms, but everything works and its reasonable. There is indeed a vent connecting all bathrooms on different floors. From this vent you can hear everything from other bathrooms, although not from the rooms itself, and smells pass too - not bathroom smells but we did smell cigarettes and aftershave.
There are two elevators, and you don´t wait too long.
Breakfast is OK, there is a reasonable choice of food which is constantly supplied.
The staff is very friendly and accomodating.
The location is very central, close to everything in the city center, but also a bit noisy being over a busy street. The aircionditioning blocks out the noise pretty well.
