This place might have been four stars when it opened (seventies or eighties by the look of the decor) but it’s faded a bit since then. That being said it’s reasonably quiet (double glazed windows) and comfortable. It’s probably worth the US$70/night or so we paid if (as in our case) all your looking for is somewhere to get a decent night’s sleep.
The hotel is conveniently located in a fairly quiet street a couple of blocks from the main strip, with most places in the city area within walking distance. We walked back to the hotel a couple of times after midnight with no issues, although there’re quite a few street sleepers in Montevideo. Good English spoken by front desk staff. Breakfast was basic, with only a couple of hot items. Free (slow) WiFi throughout, but a little complicated to connect to.
