“Very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

I spent 2 nights with my wife and our 2 daughters (7 years and 8 months).
We had a good rate for an apartment (perfect for us has it has 2 separate areas for the 4 beds).
Location is perfect (close to different and the best city beaches, the mall, good restaurants, safe and quite area). To go to city center it's a 5 dollars taxi ride. good service for breakfast (always helpful with the children), perfect wifi and a computer available for free with printer. They provide you with a map of all the city and info about restaurants. Swimming pool is very small. All the hotel is very clean. Very good mattres. The provided a baby cot for the baby.

“Nice place to stay in Montevideo.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We spent four days at Tryp Hotel over New Year's Eve. Location was great. Hotel is clean, perhaps could use a little updating, but nice overall. Thought the buffet breakfast was nice each morning and the staff at the hotel very helpful. We found some great places to eat through the front desk. We were very disappointed with the pool as I really wouldn't classify it as a swimming pool, more of a large lounging tub with warm water. It was also more inside than out and didn't look terribly clean. There's a nice rooftop lounging area, but only four lounge chairs there. We did, however, love going to this rooftop area on New Years Eve to view the fireworks that went off all over the city. It was just great and nice to be with other revelers welcoming the new Year in. We had planned a new Year's eve dinner at nearby restaurant Francis, but two in our party swerve under the weather, so we decided to hang out at the small bar at the Tryp, which turned out to be very nice. They were very accommodating and, although they were booked in the diningroom that evening, they provided us with a meal at the bar, which was very much appreciated since most everything else in the city closeby was closed that night.

It was a very good experience except for the disappointment with the lack of a real swimming pool and outdoor lounge area. Would recommend this hotel.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

This is a good business-type hotel - clean, big rooms, efficient service. It's easy to get into the old town, either by bus or taxi, you can walk down to the beach and there are some very good restaurants close by so you can stay near the hotel in the evenings. The only thing I'd fault is the gym/pool which was tired and needed some work doing to it - I normally quite like using the pool where I stay but this one looked a bit green and generally unappealling - completely out of sync with the rest of the hotel. Overall I'd certainly recommend this place.

“Very reasonably priced and we liked the location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

We traveled for 20 days in northern Argentina and Uruguay and had a one night stay in Montevideo after 3 nights in La Barra. We had a rental car and found it very easy to find the Tryp and appreciated their underground parking (no fee) and very friendly and helpful garage attendent!
We thought the hotel was very reasonably priced and included the parking, free Internet, and breakfast.
Our room was very nice and immaculate.
We walked from the hotel to the Ciudad Vieja for a great lunch at Mercado del Puerto. It was a very long walk but doable. We did take a taxi back.
We had one of our best dinners of the trip at La Perdiz which is very close to the hotel.
For being a "business type" hotel we were surprised that the Wifi did not work well at all.

“Nice neighborhood and good propriety”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

A new and good business hotel located in a very nice neighborhood (Punta Carretas), near good restaurants, shopping and the rambla. Very efficient and polite service (needed to check out at 3 AM to catch a flight - the checkout was conducted in only five minutes and without hassles).
Quite big and clean rooms in the standard business-like hotel decor.
