“very bad maintenance”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

I stayed there in a superior room, which supposed
to be the most comfortable kind of room in this hotel;
overall it was a terrible experience and a big
disappointment from the standard of Holiday inn
in Latin America.
it is more like a youth hostel than a hotel for adults,
especially because of the bad maintenance and the
very bad attitude of the staff, also because of the
poor "breakfast" which made me feel like a homeless beggar.

this hotel do not really have an air condition system, it is sort of
a scam, because this is not a regular system, it don't have a
thermostat and you can't make any change to the room temperature
it was extremely hot in the room and the (rude) staff couldn't do anything
about that. usually the windows can not be opened because they are
blocked on purpose (so the "cold" air is kept inside...)

there is not a handy shower, neither a bathtub, just upper
shower (like I used to know in the army) which was old and dirty.
they provide a small solid soap.
I found holes in my blanket.
a few tables in the so called "lobby" are used like
the dining room for the breakfast, so you should come
early to catch a table (although you do not have too much
to put on it...)
the good thing about this hotel is the location, which is
close to the plaza independencia (about 2 min walk)
and free LAN internet.

“Great hotel”

We stayed at the hotel for 1 week. We have no complaints, everything was very clean, well organized, and all staff very friendly and all spoke good English. Breakfast was really good! Location was central, near the casino and the centre of the city. There is a laundry across the road where you can have your cloths washed far cheaper than if the hotel do it for you. The only suggestion I would make is to make the free WIFI accessible to all rooms, not just the reception area. Will stay there agin on our next visit to Montevideo.

“Tired hotel but well located”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

The interior of the hotel is slightly gloomy and poorly lit and the decor is cheapish and aged with a 70s style (bedspreads are lurid flower patterns with curtains to match). The rooms are an OK size and clean. The exercise room is small with a couple of tredmills and bike a small but OK pool

The breakfast is acceptable - it has variety with some hams, cheese, breads, cereals and decent croissants - although the room it is served in is depressing and the coffee is even more brackish than usual. It could be what they use in the buses. The reception was neither friendly nor rude - very run of the mill. Altogether an indifferent experience.

One last comment. The air conditioning was broken on arrival and remained broken for three days. Fortunately it was spring and temperate and so not too much harm done.

“Reasonable price but kind of "creepy"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

The hotel management should consider investing some dollars in buying more lights for the lobby and breakfast area. It a "dark" hotel. Good location.

“Run... Just run...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

It can´t be called as a "Holiday Inn".

Everything must be changed!

The front desk is very helpful and will try to do their best.
