“Honeymoon Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at during our travels through South America. The majority of the staff was great. There was one gentlemen at the front counter who could care less about helping us out. The breakfast was one of the better ones we had. My only gripe with this hotel was its location. It was about a 30-45 min commute into the city of Montevideo.

“Great choice if you need to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011 via mobile

It is located outside Montevideo, so bring your car if you are planning to visit the city (they said there's a shuttle service but haven't used it).
Food is really good and not expensive, so you don't have to move our for lunch or dinner.
Complimentary breakfast is great!
But the best part of the hotel is the swimming pool and its park! Enjoy an amazing view while you relax in the pool.
Rooms are clean and nice, but small.
There is also a complimentary gym, ping pong table, and a poker table.
I'm gonna stay there again for sure!

“Really good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Worderful hotel! The location is the only unconvenient for tourists, because it's 35 minutes far from the city and a taxi costs about 40 dolars. The hotel area is really beautiful and quiet, perfect for relaxing. Beds are veery comfortable and gastronomy very tasty. The only problem during my stay was that extra towels were missing, because the hotel was full, but I think this was not a big problem.

“Clean, modern, fresh air”

I stayed for a couple of weeks and enjoyed it. It is a new hotel and the rooms are large and modernly equipped. The grounds are very well taken care of. Details like the solar panels make a good impression. I would have liked more things on the menu at the restaurant. Also a walking trail would be good. The surroundings are appealing but it's hard to know where you are allowed to go and where you are trespassing. Zonamerica next door is like a fortress. For transportation you can use the DM1 bus to go to Montevideo but to get to the station you have to walk 1 kilometer or request the shuttle to the entrance of Zonamerica where the bus stop is. There are also buses on Ruta 8 which you can take to town or to the next station where there is a Disco (supermarket). A ride one way to and from the hotel in a taxi to downtown Montevideo is about 300 pesos ($15 dollars). At night you can see lots of stars. There are really great panoramic views from all the upper floor rooms. The air smells of country fields and you can hear several cocks crowing at dawn.

“Nice premises, awful staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

I have been staying at the Regency Zonamerica for about 3 weeks now on company business. The desolate location, unfriendly staff (besides Fernando) and awful, ABSOLUTELY AWFUL hotel restaurant has really taken away from the paradise that Uruguay is.
The hotel itself is cleanly and the rooms are nice. However, the moment you have to deal with any of the staff, it becomes painful and is especially excruciating should you have to burden the restaurant with an order of food. It could be 45-90 minutes and there is absolutely no co-relation of the price of the food to its taste/quality.
There is absolutely nothing nearby, and a good 30-45 min drive into town. 7 of my colleagues who have been here for over 3 weeks have absolutely had it with this place - unanimous as it gets in terms of agreeing to dislike a hotel. One more thing - internet connection, even with an ethernet cord - awful.
ADVICE - save some $$$ and stay at the Pocitos Plaza or the Sheraton in the Punta Carretas neighbourhood. The location is excellent -with restaurants & bars within walking distance, and the staff extremely friendly at these hotels. Feel free to contact me at: Eurocricket400@yahoo.com should you have any quetsions.
