“Clean and pleasant hotel - good value”

Room was clean and tidy if a little dated. The hotel itself was pleasant and well decorated. There is a nice area for eating and relaxing, and computers for internet access. Be aware there is no lift - you will have to carry your bags up at least one flight of stairs. The staff were friendly and generally spoke at least enough English/we spoke enough Spanish to make check in simple (one woman was very fluent). Nothing much to add but I would recommend as a simple, clean and good value place to lay your head in Montevideo.

Extremely friendly staff! They arrange anything you ask for, e.g. bike rental. The hotel looks very nice and well maintained. Rooms are okay, not too big. Bathroom is tiny but clean.

“good value option”

Very small, inexpensive hotel in a good location. No frills, but a pleasant enough place to stay. Staff was fine, although they struggle with English. I will agree with others that this is an odd choice for the #1 hotel in Montevideo - this hotel is purely a value option, as there are certainly many more posh places to stay. If you don't set your expectations too high and remember the price you are paying, you'll be happy.

“beware of the advertizing to this hotel”

after viewing all the photos of this hotel and reviews, i booked this hotel. when we arrived the two ladies at the front desk were very helpful and one spoke great english. once we got to our room on the second floor we realized we could not spend a night here. there were cobwebs and dust all over some speakers hanging from the ceiling, black marks all over the walls, very small room, no safe,no view, and a constant humming noise. i would highly advise people to stay away from this hotel.

“Exceptionally good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

We found this hotel to be exceptionally good value for the price (which is cheaper than rooms at some hostels). The room was clean, spacious, and very nicely furbished. It's got good facilities, including good computer and internet facilities.

The hotel is located in a good area, close by to shops, restaurants, and a supermarket. We only saw a little of the city, but it seems to be in one of the nicer areas.

We stayed 3 nights here (in room 12). There is a little street noise, but we didn`t find it a problem (you are right in the middle of the city so obviously there will be some noise). It was still absolute tranquillity compared to staying in the middle of Buenos Aires. (Our tip in general for travelling in South America would be to bring some earplugs).

Some staff here do speak English, although not all of them. We only know fairly halting Spanish but still mostly understood the receptionist when she checked us in in Spanish - she pointed out city sights and even recommended some restaurants (there was a lot of gesticulating on her part). The manager is a lovely lady who went out of her way to talk to us in English, even though her English was probably on par with our Spanish.

Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Montevideo.
