We found this hotel to be exceptionally good value for the price (which is cheaper than rooms at some hostels). The room was clean, spacious, and very nicely furbished. It's got good facilities, including good computer and internet facilities.
The hotel is located in a good area, close by to shops, restaurants, and a supermarket. We only saw a little of the city, but it seems to be in one of the nicer areas.
We stayed 3 nights here (in room 12). There is a little street noise, but we didn`t find it a problem (you are right in the middle of the city so obviously there will be some noise). It was still absolute tranquillity compared to staying in the middle of Buenos Aires. (Our tip in general for travelling in South America would be to bring some earplugs).
Some staff here do speak English, although not all of them. We only know fairly halting Spanish but still mostly understood the receptionist when she checked us in in Spanish - she pointed out city sights and even recommended some restaurants (there was a lot of gesticulating on her part). The manager is a lovely lady who went out of her way to talk to us in English, even though her English was probably on par with our Spanish.
Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Montevideo.
