The room was in serious need of gutting... (not just repair) the bathroom looked like it was from 1970 and I'm being generous. The facilities were all brown? The ceiling in the bathroom was covered in mold and was actually falling down in the shower because of the mold. There are so many other hotels in the area, stay somewhere else it will be worth spending a couple extra bucks to not breathe in the mold.

When I first saw my room, I thought it needed a little work, but then I had the breakfast & it was incredible as is the lobby and the wonderful staff & the location is absolutely outstanding. It is near Plaza La Cajancha that is gorgeous & when you have breakfast you look out to incredible architect. A few steps to all bus stops, Plaza Independencia and the beaches!! Fabulously clean, lovely beaches!! Montevideo has class!!!! I stayed at Hotel Austral 1 month and it really felt like home!!! I liked having a small refrigerator in my room.

Great location and lobby. Breakfast also very good. Room needs a lot of work. Carpet ripped and dirty. Walls need paint, plaster falling from ceiling in the bathroom.

We stayed on may 7th for one night because of the location downtown MVD.

The room was extremely small and noisy. Half of the outside shutters were missing, so we could not cut the road noise at all. We asked for another room, but were told they were full.
After an enjoyable visit in the Solis Theatre we had a very noisy night because of the traffic on the street and from our neighbours bathroom. You could even see their light through the vents of our bathroom???!!!

The next day I had a swollen eye and problems with my nose. A typical allergic reaction, which is now after one day is getting better. Normally I do not have problems like this.

Next time we definately need another hotel, if necessary with even higher prices.
