Don't go here. This hostel allows groups and can't deal with them. They were partying the whole night on the roof terrace. While complaining I couldn't sleep at 2am nothing was done. Besides that they let people of the group sleep in dorms with others and in my girl dorm slept a boy!
Showers and toilets are terrible. Beds were ok though.

Rooms are simple and clean. The hostel is located a few walking meters from the main avenue. Breakfast is delicious, and it includes bread, fruit, dulce de leche, jams, coffee and tea. Bathrooms are spacious and clean. There are a few PCs with free internet. There is also a nice terrace up on the roof where you can buy drinks at night and meet other guests. Be aware that it has no elevator and the so many stairs are high.

I liked best the classic colonial building.

I liked least the mattress, it was too soft and I prefer them hard.

This hostel was amazing. The dorms were large and spacious, the arquitecture of the building was really interesting, and free internet was definitely a plus. Even though montevideo was really hot while I was here, the rooms were cool thanks to the breeze from the large balcony doors. Go up to the roof during the day to read, and at night to have a few drinks with the bartender cesar. Great staff, great times.

Building one is as described, it's a really wesome building. Building two sucks: its accessed via the steep wooden narrow access staircase that you cross the roof to get to-- bring a headlight because you need to navigate this at night to get to your room and navigating with my duffel was very hard.
There are no lockers, no hot water, there is ONE bathroom for 36 beds, only 1/2 the rooms have airconditioning and it's under very loud construction.
