“Outstanding place to stay in Sacred Valley”

My friends and I stayed in one of the Casitas at the Kuychi Rumi and it was wonderful. The Casitas are roomy, clean and comfortable and they are all located among beautiful gardens. The owner and his family were always available to help and went above and beyond in helping us when my friend misplaced her passport. The breakfasts were all fresh, delicious and served in beautiful peruvian pottery. I would love to bring my family back with me to stay in Kuychi Rumi and spend more time in the Sacred Valley. Great location as well!

“It feels like you are staying with friends.”

Our experience in Peru was incredible and it started off with our 2 days of altitude adjustment in Urubamba. We luckily chose a house at the Kuychi Rumi complex where our hosts Claudia, Carlos and Rodrigo were over the top helpful for us in making the right decisions and choices for our exploration of the Sacred Valley. They even provided drivers, guides and pointed us to incredible restaurant choices. Carlos is the architect/ builder and artist of the lovely homes on the premises and all the fine breakfast touches were Claudias. While in Urubamba we explored Ollantaytambo, Pisac and other isolated areas prior to our trek from Mt. Salkantay to MP. All incredible. When I return I would stay nowhere else than at Kuychi Rumi. Thanks again.

Room Tip: Any house will do.

“The heart of the sacred valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

A blue door off the main road passing through Urubamba opens into the
paradise that is Kyuchi Rumi. This is not a stuffy high-end resort or
anything close to a hotel. It's a home away from home. Six small
casitas, each architecturally and artistically stunning, sit amongst a
bountiful garden protected by five sweet dogs. Each casita features a
fully functional kitchen, several comfortable beds, sitting areas, and in
our case, a work of art for a fireplace.

Our Casita had three levels and each window framed another breathtaking
glimpse of the Sacred Valley. From my balcony I could see ancient Inca
tombs as parrots flews overhead, and from my bathroom I could see fields
of Maize and beautiful stonewalls capped by mountain peaks.

The grounds feature an indoor group meeting area, an outdoor barbecue and
wood burning oven, a picnic table large enough for twenty people and a
circular ring of stones that would form the perfect gathering area for
meaningful discussion and sharing. This would be an ideal place for a
small group of people craving a connection with this beautiful valley.
Manca Inca himself would appreciate the natural flow and aesthetic
attention to detail at this little slice of heaven.

The location itself is ideally suited for exploring the Sacred Valley at
large, or resting up for or from a trip to Machu Picchu. The town of
Urambama is walking distance and features several shockingly good
restaurants. Moray, the Salt Flat of Moras, Chinchero, Ollantaytambo and
Pisac are all a short distance away.

The proprietors, Carlos, Claudio and Rodrigo, all of whom speak perfect
English, are beyond hospitable. Rodrigo went out of his way to make sure
we had exactly the kind of experience we were looking for and helped me
arrange parts of my journey. Claudio made us excellent breakfast
seasoned with rich conversation, and Carlos shared with us his enthusiasm
for his work and life in Peru. They are all three
traveler spirits and we truly felt like we were in a special place the
whole time we were there.

“Home away from home in Urubamba”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Kuychi Rumi is a complex of seven nice two story two bedroom country homes on a large wooded garden outside town. Each house can accommodate 4 adults and a couple of young children, or combinations thereof. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and the second bedroom two tween beds. The large dinning and living area with fireplace is conducive to entertaining. The kitchen is large and fully equipped. The MB has a private bathroom and the SB has access to a BR in the hallway which doubles as a guest BR.
Breakfast is included but there is no restaurant on the premisses for lunch or dinner, but there are nice restaurants nearby. Rodrigo (son) and Claudia (mother) run the place like a charm. Rodrigo arranged our visit to Machu Pichu and a couple of other places and he did an outstanding job securing excellent services at lower prices than quoted by Lima travel agencies. He even arranged for us to have the only two front seats on the train to Machu Pichu with a fantastic front and side view, an unforgetable experience. The other passangers only had side views. Rodrigo and Claudia are warm, efficient, friendly people who make you feel right at home. The cost/benefit ratio of Kuychi Rumi has to be one of the best in the Sacred Valley. Thanks to both of them.
