We had a great room that opened to a veranda outside, nice and spacious. There is a hot tub, sauna, and steam room that looked nice and can be used for a fee (they told us they would let us use all for $10).

We had an excellent massage there, better and cheaper than in the states. Nice the night before hiking around Machu Picchu.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. It was a joy to wake up at this beautiful hotel in the Sacred Valley of Peru.

Both my son and I became violently ill from food poisoning within 6 hours of eating at the San Augustin Hotel in Urubamba, Peru. We required multiple visits from the hotel employed doctor and intravenious feedings. We were sick for 3 days. The hotel manager refused to accept responsibility for the problem and indicated it was "altitude sickness" even though we had been in Peru for a week, had not been previously ill and were taking Diamox. We also had medical statements from the doctor indicating gastro intestinal infections were the cause of the sickness.

The manager was very uncooperative would not discuss the problem even to the extent of leaving the hotel until we were able to leave. We would not advise anyone eating or staying there.
