We stayed two nights at San Augustin in Urubamba and did enjoy the hotel for the most part. Its on a very busy road and not close to very much, the walk into the main part of town is fairly far, especially if you are looking to go in the evening, when its dark, it would be very dangerous as there are no sidewalks. The hotel is very well kept, clean for the most part (what other reviewers have said about bugs in the bathrooms are true, although its nothing too terrible and when you are in a forest area I guess you can expect a bit of bug life to be present...it was a little gross sometimes). The first night we were there it was SO cold and they do not have heaters in the rooms, only radiant portable heaters that turn off after a few minutes so it was not super comfortable. Also the water was shut off for several hours, so we could not take showers or brush our teeth the first night we were there which was frustrating. The hotel has a decent bar (bar staff and restaurant staff were great!) with reasonable prices and the food at the restaurant was pretty good (I would reccommend the quinoa pasta). For breakfast they had a pretty decent spread of food, however the toaster did not work for the bread, so if you wanted warmed bread, the microwave it was! The grounds of the hotel are very pretty, it was just hard to get past the poor location and the fact that our whole first day we were without water. All in all I would recommend staying here, but make sure to bring extra pairs of socks and a sweatshirt for the cold nights!
