“A lovely lovely stay”

We spent three days at the Urabamba Villas and I am hard pressed to highlight what I liked most -- while the villas themselves were the perfect combination of a beautifully appointed warm spacious peruvian country house and a wonderful luxury guest retreat, and the surroundings of the Sacred Valley were stunning -- I think that our favorite memory is that of the people. Berta, who was our fantastic cook, chef, housekeepper, woman Friday was a marvel -- everything she did was imbued with a warmth, hospitality and friendliness that was touching and made saying goodbye to her the hardest part of leaving. Russell, the General Manager, could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout our entire stay. It really did feel like a home away from home -- a beautiful, warm and lovely one.

“Secluded, romantic, wonderful.”

BEAUTIFUL! Both the casitas and the environment. Excellent home cooked meals – prepared by your “maid” – allows you to sample many traditional Peruvian dishes and Peruvian wine. A bit secluded, but very romantic. Great altitude for acclimation (lower than Cusco). Not within walking distance to the city of Urubamba, but after a quick taxi ride we determined there wasn’t much to do in town (although it’s a large city, all the recommended bars that were listed in our guidebook were closed). They have a great collection of CDs you can listen to (jazz, lounge, etc) and games to play. It’s a great place to forget the world for a couple days. Typically, there is wi-fi access; however, the days we were there the connection was not working. The manager was exceptionally nice about it and laundered our dirty clothes (came straight from the Amazon!) for no charge. Overall, a very nice, relaxing stay!

“very relaxing comfortable villas, but some rough edges”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2009

We spent 3 nights at the villas - very large and comfortable for a couple. Each villa has its own chef/cleaner, who cooks local dinner and a healthy breakfast (but no consultation as to what the guests would like for dinner). Sitting next to the log fire listening to (on an anicent CD player) to your choice of music after a decent dinner was blissful.

The website refers to lots of excursions - but these are very expensive relative to the cost of organising a trip oneself. The manager was not very ready to share ideas about independent excursions.

The villa has a lovely location just outide Uruabamba itself.

For the price, more could be included - only water and one bottle of wine are included as drinks.

The cook only speaks Spanish.

I would recommend a couple of nights outside Cusco in the Sacred Valley itself

“Relax in the most beautiful place and feel like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2009

Read a book close to the fireplace while Bertha is cooking a delicious papa a la huancaina with the vegetables from their own garden. She will sing for you in Quechua and become your aya fduring your stay. Personalized service, the most comfortable beds, excellent homemade cooking in a perfect location.

“Loved Urubamba Villas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2008

There are only a few villas. Each villa is large and comes with a cook and driver. The service is above and beyond and the villas are very nice. The cook will make whatever you wish. In the evening, you can enjoy sitting beside a nice fire to relax with a bottle of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
