My husband and I stayed at Iquique for our first two nights in Lima for $19 US per night for a matrimonial room with a private bath. On the plus side, the room was reasonably clean considering how cheap the place was. However, no one spoke any English and the cleanliness of the common areas was debatable (there were fingernail clippings laying around on one of the kitchen tables). One nice perk was free Internet, as long as you didn't go over 15 minutes. But they charged us for two phone calls that they made for us to reconfirm our flight, even though they didn't actually reconfirm it. He simply didn't want to wait around on hold so he hung up on them each time. It took all of about 20 seconds each call. We ended up walking to the airline's office instead, not trusting our own paltry knowledge of Spanish over the phone. It was, however, the only room we stayed at in Peru that had tv right in the room and cable at that. The water was not hot by any definition of the word and the street noise was significant. This was the only hotel where we both had to use our earplugs. All in all, it's certainly not the worst hotel I ever stayed in, but it was dismal enough for us to change our plans and pick another one for our final night in Lima.
