“A great base for exploring Lima”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This family-run B&B is in Barranca, an old residential part of Lima, and is a good place to stay because it is spotlessly clean, the rooms are large, the breakfast is delicious, they provide info and ideas about what to see and do, and they are all very kind and helpful. It is a quiet haven compared with the noisy centre of the city. It is a very safe, quiet area and I thoroughly recommend it. It is easy to travel by bus, or walk, to other parts of Lima - only c. 50 metres from a bus stop. The area around has resteraunts, galleries and colonial buildings, and best of all is about 2 mins walk from a wonderful view over the sea, and you can walk down steep steps to the beach. The lady owner is an ex-nurse who does much charity work with the poorest of the poor, and she can speak English although, of course, if you are able to speak Spanish it will always be appreciated.

Room Tip: Any of them are excellent, it really doesn't matter.

“Nice Home in Lima”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We stayed at Aquisito several times, as a base for travels around Peru. It is good value accommodation, in a nice part of Lima, close to busses, shopping, galleries, restaurants and grocery stores, and has a pleasant homey feel. Lima is a noisy place, but in the grand scheme of things Aquisito is fairly quiet, but try for a room upstairs in the back, we found the dbl. room on the main floor at street level unacceptably noisy and bright from street lights. A nice Oasis from overwhelming Lima. The owner and staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating, they are what make Aquisito special.

Room Tip: At the back, esp. across from the kitchen.

“A decent place in Lima suburb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

I spent three nights in Aquisito. It is a quiet place, located in fairly quiet neighborhood, about two blocks from busy-traffic street. I had hard time finding the place (It has no sign but only a small house number ... on a street with strange building number system.....)
There are few decent restaurants within short walk distance. The lovely ladies operating the B&B will be happy to point you to restaurants and to attractions and transportation options in the neighborhood and the city of Lima. The Barranco neighborhood center, with its nice park and restaurants, is within walking distance from the B&B. I felt safe walking there in the evening.
I found the building to be clean and well cared for. My single occupancy room was located on main floor behind the reception area. Just big enough for one person, it had private washroom with shower and reliable hot water. Window was opening onto a tidy inner "utility" courtyard. My room was cleaned everyday. It was a bit worn out and dark, but good enough for just sleeping and taking shower in it for a couple of days.
The upper floor of the house is in better condition. It is brighter, with nice wood floors. The rooms are also much larger and nicer. The second floor has dining area, where decent breakfast is served, and a couple of computers with internet access.
Overall I recommend staying in this guesthouse, specifically on the second floor. It is a good quiet and clean option in Lima with decent value.

“Probably the best hostel in Peru!”

This place is amazing!
It's in a quiet area of the city, close to nice restaurants, lovely ocean views.
The woman who runs it speaks English, and was extremely helpful in planning some sightseeing in Lima. She sent us to an excellent restaurant that was non-touristy, with amazing ceviche!
The rooms are super clean, and have reliable hot water. There are computers with free internet, and a nice breakfast in the morning with hot coffee.

By far the best place we stayed in Peru!

“Not terrible, but not great either”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

I stayed for one night with my family in Aquisito. The place is located near a noisy street. There are nice wood floors. The price was affordable, but they charged us for my daughter 7 as if she were an adult. The bathroom smelled moldy and the sink did not drain, the breakfast was tasteless margarine, white bread and jam with preservatives. The bed had a flea in it. The owner was controlling and suspicious. I would not recommend this place.
