I just read by accident a not so good review writen about the camp and i definitely have to write in favor of the place, i don't know if that review is for real or not, but i cannot complain about anything, first, Abraham has been very helpful from the beginning, weeks before my arrival he answered every mail quickly, answering my doubts and giving useful information, second, his house is kept pretty clean, you do have to keep in mind that everything is dirt roads and there are tons of sand, but despite all of this he does a great job keeping the place nicely, the sheets i got and the ones i've seen seem pretty new to me, and the cute little beagle they have is adorable and does not come up to the second floor, where the main guest area is.
There isn't much to do in Punta Hermosa, but we came here for the surf, i'm taking a year long surftrip and initially made my reservation for 3 to 4 days, i've been here almost a month now and been surfing my brains out everyday, Abraham is a great host and a good friend, as I'm about to head north as part of my trip i just want to wish the best to him and recommend this place to anyone, you won't regret it.

First, let me say that coordinating with Abraham, the owner, and his staff was really terrific. His primary person on-site was Rosa (Abraham was traveling and still did a great job coordinating) . She was outstanding and completely represented Peruvian hospitality. She even took a local bus with us to the highway and waited 45 mins until we flagged a bus down to Pisco! She was great! That said, the place is a dump. The sheets smelled terribly, even after Rosa changed them. The private bath was falling apart and had practically no water pressure. The electrical hot water device either spit out too hot or too cold water and we got zapped a few times as well. There is a smelly, dirty (but friendly) dog that sits on all the furniture. The surf instructor was also very nice, but his heep of a car only took us to one location both days – and the waves were NOT for beginners. Plus, they didn´t have the right board for her like they said they´d have and she couldn´t paddle out in that location. We hoped to go to another location like they mention on their website, but he didn´t pick a better place the second day like he should have – I´m guessing cuz he car wouldn´t make it. If you do end up staying here, choose the breakfast only option as you can easily find more restaurants nearby that are much cheaper than the money you´d pay. Abraham is very good about suggesting this as well. Also, in their spartan 1st floor area, they had a ping pong table with no balls and the TV area probably makes it so others cannot sleep. Again, great people, just a dump of a place and see if you can find a better surf camp for similar money.

I stayed @ the surf camp with two friends on first week of Sep 2007. Rooms are clean, service is good, food is great and the beach is within walking distance. We had a great time and enjoyed those big waves!
