“My favourite hostel in Lima!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

I have stayed in a number of hostels in Lima, but this is by far my favourite, so I have come back to One Hostel various times throughout my time in Peru. It feels like home away from home. So nicely decorated and cosy. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay. On top of that it's located in my favourite part of town, Barranco, with the best bars and nightlife, many small restaurants around and close to the sea. I will definitely come back!

“Favorite hostel ever”

I came to One Hostel three years ago on a family vacation. It was the first time I'd stayed in a hostel and it was incredible. The family who runs it was very kind, spoke english fluently, and helped us with all of our travel questions. I came back years later on my own to visit, after having stayed in dozens of other hostels, and found that it is still the best hostel (or hotel) I've ever been in. The courtyard is beautiful (and smells great, too); the living room and kitchen are well-lit and clean; and access to the kitchen and utensils is included. One Hostel is also extremely safe and secure. I strongly recommend it.

“Great stay in May”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Having traveled to Peru countless times, I made plans to travel with a group of five people in May of 2011. I wanted to stay in Barranco as it promised good restaurants, nightlife and an interesting insight to Lima's aspiring art scene. I chose One Hostel because of it's location, price, and pictures that I viewed on their site.
We arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed by Melissa who showed us to our rooms. The well decorated hostel was much different from experiences during my backpacking days in the 80's. Clean and comfortable, we immediately felt quite at home in our Lima lodging. This place was more like a family inn and the word "hostel" didn't suit it properly. I found it to be a notch above the typical travelers hostels I have experienced. Melissa, her parents and the rest of the staff took wonderful care of us during our stay. After traveling to Cusco, we returned to One Hostel even though I could have had a heavily discounted rate through my company at the Marriott Lima.We wanted to have the friendly and cozy feel that One Hostel provided.
Since my stay in May, I have sent two different groups Melissa's way and they absolutely loved the place. I can say that our experience and theirs were positive in every way. I will return to Peru in the future and will certainly stay here again and I would highly recommend it to other casual travelers.

“Hands down the best place to stay in Barranco!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I stayed here for over week and have never felt so welcome. Melissa is super helpful and sweet. In a couple of days you will basically feel like you are staying at a friend's house and not want to leave! The quality to price point is perfect and the entire staff is very kind. It is close to everything in the area right in the heart of buzzing Barranco. Whether you want to sit in and relax at the hostel, watch a movie, or have a few beers with fellow travelers on the quaint patio later in the evening, its all available. The hostel appeals to all kinds of travelers and I really enjoyed the people I met there. The only worry about One Hostel is that once you arrive, you will have a hard time leaving the people you befriend there!
