“AWESOME! FRIENDLY STAFF, CLEAN, CENTRAL, SAFE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

I have been to this hotel a few time in the last two years and my last experienced was nothing compared to the other ones. It is mainly due to the fact that the hotel was sold to a family this year and major change have been made. The family and the new pesonal are friendly, resourceful and very kind. There were multiple times where I noticed they went out of their way to help me out. Printing out my boarding passes, having a safe cab pick me up from the airport, ordering me pizza hut when I was craving American food, good recommendations. They treated me like royalty and really made me feel welcomed. LOVE THE POSADA DEL MARQUEZ!

“Never again, the place is a ripoff, smelled of mold, no Air-Con, 13% EXTRA Fee on my Credit Card over the exchange rate”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

I was duped into staying here by a taxi driver. He pulled up, said it was $60 a night, and a great place. It does LOOK good from the outside, and even the entry foyer is very nice, marble, with sort of an antiqued "old school" look to it. I accepted a single room for $60 including breakfast, without even going to check out the room. Big mistake.

When I got into my room, I immediately noticed the moldy smell. It was very musty and had that 'locker room' smell to it. The windows were wide open, probably to circulate some of the air. I had just traveled several hours from Cusco, as I'd just done the Inca trail, and hiked up to Manchu Pichu, so I was dead tired and immediately hit the shower, else I'd have marched right down and not taken the room. But I was low on energy, and wanted to stash my gear and shower up.

So to summarize, the room stinks of mold. I noticed that there was no air conditioning, my fault for not asking before accepting the room. It was hot, humid and having no Air conditioning meant a sweaty, hot restless night of little sleep. I could tell the bed linens, and bedspread were many years old, and it especially showed on the dirty bedspread. I decided to just take that off as it was very soiled.

There is wireless Internet, that worked well for my iPhone, but no public computers for checking flights and such.

The kicker, when I went down in the morning to check out and pay my bill, and have the included breakfast, they told me that they charged an exchange rate that was several soles higher than the current rate. The room was supposed to be $60, but after they added their *exchange* surcharge, it came to be over $70!! They quoted me $60, but charged me over $70...? I tried to reason with them for 20 minutes, on the principle, but to no avail. Due to this delay, I had no time for their breakfast, and had to rush to the airport. I would not ever stay here again.

“Nice accomodacion in best miraflorian location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

This Hotel is situated in a safe neighbourhood between the coast and the centre of the quarter Miraflores (Kennedy Park) - to both of them you just have to walk a couple of minutes.
We had a quite small and simple room in the patio. But they provided heating (important in Limean winter nights) and an excelent, clean bathroom and of course a warm shower.
Breakfast is included and quite satisfiying. Beside fresh orange juice, they offered everything needed for a good day's start.
We did not test the restaurants food but the Cocktails were great.

“Not value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2009

hotel Is in a good location, but is over priced. Had some confusion regarding happy hour which turns out only applies on a saturday.breakfast is a very poor effort, the rooms basic no hairdryer. Try next road along, some nice hotels there (le Paz).

“No great location, expensive, poor service.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2009

I am not in the habit of complaining, but this hotel is a definitively No-No. We shortened our stay. Other hoteld may charge 65 US dollar for a room, but in this case it is not at all justified because there is hardly any service and the most basic comfort is lacking. The room (with a staircase inside) was cramped and dirty. There was a bad smell because the tolet paper had to be put in a basket and as the air was humid there was a bad air. There was no water hot OR cold at times. Whereas tehre was no air conditioning, the window could not be opened because of security concerns: the neighbour,s sportsshoes were aired right next to it. When we expredde our suprise about the price, the hotel siad first that it was the fault of the internet booking; later they said it was actually "not the price that is wrong, but the room", and that we were not the first ones to complain. Yet they offered no solution. Oh yes, and there were no glasses in the room, so that after a long journey and n bath we had to dress again to get some. (Next day same story!). First time ever we cut short a stay, but are happy we did it. It is not difficult to find a hotel for half the price and with service. If after reading this you still attend this place, you really do so at your own risk.
