There were 11 people in our group ranging from 1 to 60 years old. The staff was honest, friendly and accommodating with great tips about Lima. Breakfast was ample with eggs, buns, fresh juice, tea, coffee and milk. We also had use of the kitchen and fridge and were able to store our bags safely as we headed out to Machu Picchu. Rooms and bedding were clean and showers hot. The neighbourhood is safe and La Casa Nostra is centrally located. It's close to shopping, restaurants, the waterfront and the Indian Market. Also close to laundry (love the laundry service). Check out Bircher Benner vegetarian restaurant on Av. Jose Larco. Amazing food! Thank you to La Casa Nostra for a great stay in Miraflores!

I have been staying at "La Casa Nostra", since my arrival until I left for Cusco, 3 nights and 3 unforgettable days .First of all the location is the best to visit the wholw ciy. The house itself is one of the 19th century bourgeois houses close to the pacific ocean. The casa nostra is one of these places where one feels a stranger no more than a minute! The kindness of Ada, Percy, Ana and their manager Mariano make you feel at home. The rooms are big and supplied with all modern comfort. But, really, the most important is the staff helping you with insider information you can't find in any touristic guide. A special thank to Abel the nightporter. I surely will come back to this great hostel.

yes the staff were (reasonably) friendly but i would not recommend staying here unless:
-you enjoy the overwhelming odor of stale cigarette smoke
-you like stained, filthy carpets and furniture
-you look forward to having to constantly renogiate every detail of your stay.

after reading a tip from someone we specifically requested the room with the balcony 5 months in advance and again confirmed it in the month leading up to our stay at casa nostra. 2 days before we checked in we were notified by email that they had given our room away. after argument and protest they agreed to give us the room that we had originally requested. upon check-in we were given a different room. again, after some protest we were gievn the room that we had requested. upon check-out they attempted to charge us more than they had orginally quoted. ugh... again, after protest and argument they agreed to the original price.

this is a pretty scary apartment house, in a wonderful neighborhood, with a STRONG stench of old cigarettes; the entire staff smokes constantly. i'd recommend spending an extra $10-$20 and staying somewhere else.

Staff memebers are very friendly . We stayed there on May 27 and 28. But my wife was trapped in the bathroom because the knob was jammed. Two repair guys came to our room to immediately release my wife from the bathroom. But they did not fix the door knob at that time. This happened in the morning. When we took a bus tour between 6:20 PM and 10:20PM and right before I left the room for the tour, I clearly remembered that I placed my blue iPOd on the top of a chest drawer in the room. But when I came back from the tour, my iPod was gone. During the period of the night bus tour, a tall repair guy came into our room to fix the door knob by himself. So I think that he stole my iPod (of course he denied it). On the same night, we could not close the window in our room. So the same repair guy came into our room again. I think that this is his scheme to look for something valuable in the room. Its location is good, but it’s not worth staying there. If you do, put your valuable stuff into your luggage and lock up your luggage. Otherwise take them with you.
