“Beautiful hotel with gracious service but the showers have no hot water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

I think my title says it all...

Hotel appears to be a beautiful converted mansion. It has a restaurant that serves breakfast officially 8-10, but they were very gracious about serving earlier or later than that if you requested it. They had a hotel bar that never seemed to be open, but that too seemed to be readily available if you requested it. I found the service to be excellent the hotel staff to be gracious and professional throughout our stay.

There is a good sized, considering it's a small hotel, business center that I had no trouble using and the hotel offers free wireless access. One problem is that the access doesn't work well beyond the lobby, so my husband and I would be attempting various contortions trying to get the in-room access we needed.

My major issue was the shower. The shower is in a bathroom in the room that is walled off, but the walls only reach to 1 m below the ceiling. The shower itself, by painful trial, would produce only cold water unless you knew to use the right knob (neither is marked) completely all the way and wait 10 minutes -- then you can get slightly warm water. I had colleagues in two other rooms who experienced similar difficulties.

I stayed here on business along with my husband. The hotel is on a very nice little cul-de-sac near downtown Lima. I had business nearby and was able to walk there from the hotel's location. One problem is that there is no other nice places to easily walk to from there, so going to dinner requires calling cab to travel for what is, inevitably in LIma traffic, 40 minutes and then taking another cab back after dinner for a similar amount of time. (Take one of the cards at the desk that shows where the hotel is so that the cab you take to return can find the way back to the hotel.)

“Save $300 and stay here”

We just arrived yesterday. I booked the hotel 2 months ago. Without any delay the driver was there to pick us up.
Perfectly well dressed and groomed and spoke a little englisch.
When we arrived at the hotel which layed in a cul de sac, it was like arriving at a house from a diplomate very grand and welcoming.
A simple small reception. Our cases got carried up by the bell boy.
The room was enormous. Room 207 on a corner, always good so you have no noise from the neighbours.
Okay it has no minibar and no lovely soaps, but what do you aspect for $ 60.
The beds were good and it was quiet through the night.
I happy I saved a lot of money on not staying 5 star. Of course it's always a risk, but it was worth it.
Today is our flight to cusco and buy myself a nice botlle wine to celebrate this succesfull arrival in Peru

“Small Hidden English Mansion in the Middle of Lima”

We stayed at The Clifford Hotel in Lima during our last stretch of our trip. When we saw our pickup come in the form of a kombi, we knew we were in for a treat. The English style mansion turned hotel is located inside a cul-de-sac in the downtown Lima....with rooms the size of 2-3 regular hotels combined together. Ask for Room 1 on the first floor, it's the one that's shown on their website.

Like other reviewers, we found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. They would send staff out to the main street to hail cabs for us, call restaurants to make reservations and simply look information up for us.

Definitely stay here if you're looking for something low-key and comfortable....definitely don't stay here if you're looking to have a night on the town- because cab rides to Miraflores are at least 20-30 minutes!

“A little bit of England in Peru.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

We loved this place. From the little Kombi van the owner picked us up in at the airport, to the personal, caring service, and the simple, authentic food. It is located centrally near the Grand Park, between and the beach suburbs, so the trip to either one is shorter. The kitschy English manor decor made us smile, as did the great value rates. But what we loved most was that we felt like the staff cared about us and amde sure our stay was enjoyable.

“Great hotel, fair management”

We arrange free pick up at Lima airport and they were not there. We called them and they told us to take a taxi and that they would pay our trip back to the airport, and they did.

Rooms are clean, very spacious and nice. Hotel has a colonial apareance and it is really nice.

It is a little bit far from the city center, about 25 minutes and walking is not nice at some parts but it is not dangerous at all.

Free wifi connection and you have also new and fast computers available for free.
Breakfast is fine but they don´t have a lot of choices for dinner and restaurant closes at 9 pm what it´s an inconvenient if you arrive late. Don´t try to order a pizza, it is impossible because they don´t deliver to this area and the hotel charge you a lot for your local calls.
