We enjoyed a 2 night stay at the Clifford Hotel which is really " oldie worldie" . It is near the National stadium and close to all the historical sites and parks in downtown Lima.
Stayed here for 3 nights... Booked 1st 2 nights online and got a good deal... 3rd night I did as an extra and they charged me the normal offline rate... It was too late in the day to find an alternative!
Te building is stunning and the rooms are big and spacious... Safe in the room too so added advantage!
The staff I met were lovely and really helpful... Organizing buses and taxis when needed!
They didn't let me know someone was picking me up from the airport even though i emailed twice, so I ended up spending $20 on a cab!!
But overall it was a comfortable stay and the location meant I was at most of the cities sights within 10 mins of walking!
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We arranged pick up at the airport and were promptly met by their driver. The reception personnel was very friendly and helpful. The hotel looks more like a private villa than a hotel. There was a business center with several computers with internet. Our room was large and airy with a tv. The bathroom was also nice-sized. Breakfast consisted of orange juice, coffee or tea and 2 eggs any style with toast. They also arranged transportation back to the airport for us.
We did have a problem with payment. They quoted us in dollars, then converted it to Peruvian sols at an inflated exchange rate which ended up costing more in dollars than their offered price..
I think my title says it all...
Hotel appears to be a beautiful converted mansion. It has a restaurant that serves breakfast officially 8-10, but they were very gracious about serving earlier or later than that if you requested it. They had a hotel bar that never seemed to be open, but that too seemed to be readily available if you requested it. I found the service to be excellent the hotel staff to be gracious and professional throughout our stay.
There is a good sized, considering it's a small hotel, business center that I had no trouble using and the hotel offers free wireless access. One problem is that the access doesn't work well beyond the lobby, so my husband and I would be attempting various contortions trying to get the in-room access we needed.
My major issue was the shower. The shower is in a bathroom in the room that is walled off, but the walls only reach to 1 m below the ceiling. The shower itself, by painful trial, would produce only cold water unless you knew to use the right knob (neither is marked) completely all the way and wait 10 minutes -- then you can get slightly warm water. I had colleagues in two other rooms who experienced similar difficulties.
I stayed here on business along with my husband. The hotel is on a very nice little cul-de-sac near downtown Lima. I had business nearby and was able to walk there from the hotel's location. One problem is that there is no other nice places to easily walk to from there, so going to dinner requires calling cab to travel for what is, inevitably in LIma traffic, 40 minutes and then taking another cab back after dinner for a similar amount of time. (Take one of the cards at the desk that shows where the hotel is so that the cab you take to return can find the way back to the hotel.)
We just arrived yesterday. I booked the hotel 2 months ago. Without any delay the driver was there to pick us up.
Perfectly well dressed and groomed and spoke a little englisch.
When we arrived at the hotel which layed in a cul de sac, it was like arriving at a house from a diplomate very grand and welcoming.
A simple small reception. Our cases got carried up by the bell boy.
The room was enormous. Room 207 on a corner, always good so you have no noise from the neighbours.
Okay it has no minibar and no lovely soaps, but what do you aspect for $ 60.
The beds were good and it was quiet through the night.
I happy I saved a lot of money on not staying 5 star. Of course it's always a risk, but it was worth it.
Today is our flight to cusco and buy myself a nice botlle wine to celebrate this succesfull arrival in Peru
