“Great place to start”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

I booked my flight 5 days before a 2 week journey in Peru. I had only booked this hotel, and it turned out to be a great location, a great value, and futhermore, I found Max. He helped me book all of my hotels, excursions, and bus tickets in less than 4 hours. I have nothing to say about anything: it was picture perfect.

I recommend to everyone this hotel, and its english speaking miracle workers.

Thank you max

“Perfect place in Lima”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

Hotel Esperanza provides understated top value. It's in an excellent location--close enough to everything exciting in Mira Flores, but being close enough to the edge of the busy area to be quiet and relaxing. You can walk easily to anywhere in Mira Flores but will not be bothered by noisy nightlife. The staff are friendly and hospitable without being in your face.
The manager Max is a laid back guy, but a superb host. He makes the place work. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, that we understood the area and got around safely. Max provided excellent advice about local hot spots, great places to visit around Lima and when we got ourselves into a little difficulty, Max stood up and was prepared to be the point man.
The hotel itself is modest, tidy and clean. The beds were clean and firm just what's needed for a good sleep. For the price, this is a superb deal!

“Great value, great location, great service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel recently and greatly enjoyed my stay. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and went out of their way to assist me. I would recommend this hotel to someone wanting a reasonably priced and modest accomodation with great service.

“Max and Hostel Esperanza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

Hostel Esperanza was a solid 3 star hotel; clean room with a closet and a safe, a large comfortable bed, private bathroom with a shower, no problems. The hotel had one computer for internet downstairs, a simple restaurant serving breakfast only, security gate at the front enterance, and the option of leaving baggage there in a secured room while I was out doing my volunteer work for 4 weeks. Hostel Esperanza is located in Miraflores, (a district of Lima). There is shopping, a huge selection of restaurants, banks and daily activities all within a very short walking distance. The best part was that this area is very safe. As a single young white female I thought I would be more nervous since I was alone, but I felt very safe in Miraflores going out for supper after dark by myself.

I am a student who traveled to Peru for July and August of 2010. As a frsh traveler with little experience I was looking for a trip with organization and structure. From July 17-Aug 15 I was doing some volunteerwork in the jungle that was headed by a conservation organization, hence that portion of my trip was organized on it's own, seperate from my traveling for tourism. For my initial arrival in Lima, and for Aug 15- Sept 2nd I was looking for a hotel, and for a tour co-ordinator to plan my travels within Peru to all the sights and locations I wanted to visit. And of course I was looking for a fair price. I first contacted Max in February 2010 to start my travel plans for July and August 2010.

I found Max through reviews like this one online which commented on his superior ability to help the guests of his hotel "Hostel Esperanza" with their traveling aspirations. I contacted Max, who sounded very friendly and spoke good English, and the planning began.

As for the tourism part of my traveling: Max made this easy. He arranged for us several taxi pick up at the Lima airport with someone holding a sign with my name. Also all our buses, plane tickets and tours in: Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Puno including a home stay in the Titicaca Lake, Cusco, Inca Trail with stay in Aguas Calientes and a MOST excellent Tour to Puerto Maldonado in the peruvian protected jungle.

I know I would not have been able to travel this cheaply if I had tried to plan it all on my own and it was much cheaper then any of the other organized tours I found. I was also very glad that I gave lots of time to the planning and organizing of my trip (5 months prior to my arrival). The entire itinerary was easy to follow, everything I hoped for and turned out better than I had expected. I feel I have Max to thank for my wonderful experience in Peru.
Salut!

“Great Location, helpful advice - the perfect place to start a tour of Peru”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

I booked this hotel for one night before flying to Lima thinking that this would be a good safe, clean place to stay for my first night, and it ticked all those boxes perfectly so I ended up staying for 2 nights instead.

Max, a manager there, offered me a transfer from the airport at a reasonable rate (via email before arriving) and I took him up on this, which took away the worry of arriving in a foreign country with no Spanish & trying to get a taxi late at night with jet lag.

The hotel itself is in a great location, just 2/3 mins walk from Park Kennedy in Miraflores. It is not cheap by Peruvian standards ($40 per night), but you get what you pay for as it was nice, comfortable & clean and safe.

I travelled on from here to tour all the main highlights of Peru & stayed again when back in Lima for my last night before flying back to London.

Also, its worth noting that Max organises tours in his spare time & I took him up on his offer of his services for my tour of Peru (I had 2 weeks to tour), which was good value & all went exactly as planned. This was ideal for me as I had nothing booked upon arriving to Peru as I had heard it was cheaper to book when you get there (which it was!!!).

Overall, I would recommend this place highly.
