“Somewhat dated but central with friendly helpful staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2009

I stayed here as part of a Tucan tour. It is very handy for the main square, shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and very helpful, directing me to banks and places to eat whenever I needed help. It certainly has seen better days and I am unable to comment on value for money as it was included in the tour price, however I spent 2 ok nights at the beginning of the tour and 1 at the end at this hotel.

“Faded glory”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2009

This hotel was no doubt once the pride of Lima, in fact it was in the hotel bar that the famous Pisco Sour cocktail was invented. Now, along with much of Lima city centre it is tired and forelorn. Water was never more than lukewarm, light bulbs in the room were too dim to read by, and the buffet breakfast was very poor.

“A Pleasent Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2009

After reading the other hotel reviews on this site I was not sure what to expect from this hotel. but found our stay here very comfortable.
This hotel is in a very central location to the main attractions in Central Lima.
It was clean and the rooms large with very comforable beds and a large bathroom with towels, shampoo etc. There was a fridge and mini bar in the room and you could open the windows if you wanted to.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was a typical Peruvian breakfast, fruit juice, bread rolls jam, fruit and tea / coffee.
There was a bad smell one night coming from outside but we chose not to close the window.
I would sta y here again if I have the chance to travel to Peru again

“Would stay here again!”

The hotel is near the Plaza de Armas, but it's in a quiet side street, so it's actually a very quiet hotel, but within easy walking distance of the main square!

The front desk staff varied from wonderful to downright standoff'ish depending on who was working on any given day. For the most part they were great, but there's a couple of them who really shouldn't be working in the hospitality industry at all. The hotel bar was large and comfortable and had a good barman.

The rooms are clean and quite large. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were brilliant (a big bath and a good shower)! A decent mini-bar (and the prices weren't too excessive). The tv was a decent size and had a good range of available channels (and more than a few in English).

I enjoyed my stay at the Maury Hotel and would stay here again the next time I'm in Lima. It's in a convenient location for sightseeing, it's quiet and the rooms are great! Only downside is the "internet computer" in the lobby never works, so don't rely on it and just go elsewhere.
