“Convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

Having been reading reviews on here it does seem that theres a few horror stories.....ive been here on four occasions in the past as stop over to other places in Peru....
ive always had a good time here...
staff friendly..ive got the mobil number of the taxi man who works for them...i text him when ever i want and he is always available...hotel pick ups....
staff have always been helpful and the food bearable...
its cheap and centrally located...
for what you pay it all OK...
for the people who had things stolen then maybe you should remember you are in a south american country where poverty is high...
like all other south american countries anything of value is always locked away...
all in all this place u get what u pay...its clean and a great value for a stop over...

“Staff stole items from our bathroom!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

Horrible place! Smallest rooms ever! Loud nasty discos all around the place! Food was very bad, staff in restaurant was poor, front desk not very knowledgable. When we reported items missing from our room, all of a sudden no one spoke English! Absolutely ridiculous! Pathetic! I would buy you personal items if you need to steal!!
How could they not do something for a customer when personal items are stolen by maids? I mean, they did NOTHING to fix the issue, no service offered at all! No appology, just plain LACK of good service! This place is ALL ABOUT you get what you PAY for!!
It's a cheap, college kid place and NOTHING more! Don't expect anything other than a campground here!

Dear Guest

Your words express anger more than constructive critism. Our staff did not steal anything from your room. Security videos were checked during your stay and the maids handbag was also checked. We are sorry to hear so many offensive words due to missing bathroom items. However, we give bathroom items for free and our staff do not need to steal as you mention.

We hope you reconsider your opinion.

Sincerely,

Hotel Las Palmas

“No frills... but cheap and bearable!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2010

Nothing special at all but a cheap and acceptable place to stay for a night or two. Great location to lots of restaurants, bars and discos in Lima. I stayed here on a Tuesday night so we did not have any problems with noise from the discos. My only issue was that there was no A/C in our rooms other then a small osculating fan, fine during the winter and fall seasons but could get uncomfortable during the summer.

Hotel allows complementary calls to the USA along with free wife Internet. To me this is a very useful amenity and for the price of $33USD I paid for my room we got a pretty good deal.

“DON'T STAY in rooms NEXT to DISCO”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2009
3
people found this review helpful

I made the mistake, unknowingly, of booking an "Executive Room" which just meant it was larger with the added bonus of sharing a wall with a DISCO! If you are not out until 5AM you will then be kept awake until 5AM on Fridays and Saturdays by the BOOM BOOM BOOM! of the sound system . I came to Peru primarily to witness its natural beauty which means I was getting up at 5AM daily going on tours. I'll be spending considerably more on lodging next trip to Lima to avoid having this nightmare again.

I guess for some people $50-$60 a night to be in central Miraflores is considered perhaps a great deal and worth the hassle to stay in such subpar lodging . I suppose I should have expected this, but mistakenly thought that even though hotels were cheaper than in the U.S., they were of the same or similar quality..just based on the exchange rate alone, boy was I wrong. The rooms are tired, beat, worn and look like something hellish from the 1950s and that cheesy, cheap motel look of anytown USA. The sink and tub are ugly and ancient and not extremely user friendly. Towels were pathetic, no hand towels or wash clothes, just large, very worn white towels. And one small roll of toilet paper was given daily - no tissues or anything else.

All the good reviews about the staff and service leave me scratching my head. The staff would not go out of their way to acknowledge you or to provide service. You had to always ask for something instead of being provided what you needed whether it was information or service. The staff seemed bored, cold, distant and robotic for the most part - and I speak SPANISH!

I'd stay in a hostel before staying at this place again.

“cheap, good location, loud , small bed...”

Not all room are the same size....try to get 300 to 305 same price but much bigger, in room 222, 322, 422 you can get slow wifi, can smoke anywhere, good to bring girls back to room. There is a night club next door very loud on week end, good value for location. Food in restaurant was not good.
