I made the mistake, unknowingly, of booking an "Executive Room" which just meant it was larger with the added bonus of sharing a wall with a DISCO! If you are not out until 5AM you will then be kept awake until 5AM on Fridays and Saturdays by the BOOM BOOM BOOM! of the sound system . I came to Peru primarily to witness its natural beauty which means I was getting up at 5AM daily going on tours. I'll be spending considerably more on lodging next trip to Lima to avoid having this nightmare again.
I guess for some people $50-$60 a night to be in central Miraflores is considered perhaps a great deal and worth the hassle to stay in such subpar lodging . I suppose I should have expected this, but mistakenly thought that even though hotels were cheaper than in the U.S., they were of the same or similar quality..just based on the exchange rate alone, boy was I wrong. The rooms are tired, beat, worn and look like something hellish from the 1950s and that cheesy, cheap motel look of anytown USA. The sink and tub are ugly and ancient and not extremely user friendly. Towels were pathetic, no hand towels or wash clothes, just large, very worn white towels. And one small roll of toilet paper was given daily - no tissues or anything else.
All the good reviews about the staff and service leave me scratching my head. The staff would not go out of their way to acknowledge you or to provide service. You had to always ask for something instead of being provided what you needed whether it was information or service. The staff seemed bored, cold, distant and robotic for the most part - and I speak SPANISH!
I'd stay in a hostel before staying at this place again.
