“Great service and comfortable bed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

We stayed 5 nights at the NM Lima and had a very good experience! We booked 2 rooms (2 couples), and they had a special for 40% off if you pay with American Express, so we ended up paying $72 per room including buffet breakfast, plus some taxes (note that foreigners are except from the 18% hotel tax, but you still need to pay 10% service tax). We had great service, and because the hotel is not very big, the staff recognized us and our local friend who came to pick us up everyday at the hotel, which gave a more personal touch.

The room is not very big but is was big and comfortable enough for us, as we did not spend much time in the room. The most important part is that we had a huge bed which was quite comfortable. It was larger than our King size bed at home, because they had put two large mattresses together, but because of the padding, etc, you can't tell until you look underneath. The bathroom is a normal size hotel bathroom, nothing luxurious or out of the ordinary, but it was very clean.

There's a very large high-end supermarket within walking distance of the hotel, where we got bottled water, snacks, etc. Also, there's a few restaurants in the area and a McDonald's and a Bembos (a fast food chain that's the "Peruvian McDonalds" and much better than McDonalds next to it)... Definitely try eating the your fries with the hot sauce "Aji" combined with Mayo and Ketchup... it's great!! Lima is a place with many great restaurants and so there's no need to go for fast food, but we just wanted to try it to see the difference.

We ate at many great restaurants and at very affordable prices (many of them not listed in the travel guides) and it's definitely a place were serious "Foodies" should go and try great food from a variety of cuisines (and most important, very fresh - so things tastes like they are supposed to).

We stayed at this hotel after a 2 week tour of Peru, and we loved this hotel. We had stayed at another hotel for 1 night at the beginning of our trip, but even though the room was much larger, we definitely prefer the NM Lima because the decor is more modern, everything was very clean, and the service was great. The hotel also arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport the day we left - it is cheaper to pay the taxi directly than charging it to the hotel bill. The cost of the the taxi by paying directly was the same as what our friend who lives in Lima pays, so we know they didn't overcharge us.

The NM Lima is not a luxury hotel, but we felt very welcome and comfortable (and we are very particular about receiving high quality products and services), which is what is important to us. We think it's a very good hotel in the price range (regular price was $120 - $160 per night)... if you want to pay $300 or more for a more luxurious hotel, you can definitely find some, but we think the NM Lima provided us with good value.

  • Liked — Great Service, cleanliness and comfortable bed
  • Disliked — It's on a busy street, so some rooms could hear traffic during busy times

“Just 3 STARS”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2007

This is a small hotel, located in a nice neighborhood. Service is OK, the place is very clean, BUT this is nothing more than a 3 STARS hotel. Rooms are average, beds are really small, furniture is basic. In short: nothing special at all (so don´t expect anything more than a basic room in a basic hotel). Considering the price, 80-90 USD (Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia), I would pay a little more (15-30 USD) and try somewhere else.

“Perfect Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2007

I travel to Lima for business purposes and I stayed at this hotel for the first time in 2003. Since then I do not book anywhere else. I think this hotel has it all: excellent food, location and service. Breakfast is very good and rooms are new with flat screen TV. It is near all kinds of restaurants and all of them are worth a visit.

“Overall -it was nice....”

LM Hotel was overall pretty nice. I stayed there for a total of about 4 nights (split 3 at the beg. of the trip and 1 at the end) The staff is great there, that's for sure! Rooms are average. Beds are ok. But it serves it's purpose. Pisco sours in the hotel are made well! The breakfast in the courtyard is very delicious and pleasant. A huge variety of food and a plethera of juices/hot drinks are offered. Lima is Lima. It's a HUGE city so you have to expect it to be crazy busy and it is. There is a MUST GO restaurant near this hotel (even walking distance....but taxi's better) called: La Gloria (photos attached) Now THAT's worth a visit! Enjoy your trip!

“Very good value for money for a business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2006

I stayed 5 nights at the Lima hotel first week of November 2006 on reference from a local business colleague. I made my reservation easily by e-mail directly to the hotel and was given a large, clean, comfortable and quiet room at a very reasonable rate that included a fantastic breakfast (hot and cold buffet, eggs as you like them on demand, lovely fresh fruit, wonderful coffee, etc.)
Service was very good and all staff courteous and friendly.
There was a free access high-speed internet connection in the room as well as a work table with a couple of chairs.
When making my reservation I asked the hotel to arrange a taxi to pick me up on arrival at the airport and it worked like a charm: the driver was very helpful, the car very well maintained and the drive efficiently and safely executed (no mean feat in Lima traffic!); also the price was very reasonable given the distance and the service and it can be charged to your hotel bill. (I did the same for my departure - have 30 US dollars or the equivalent in nuevo soles to pay the departure tax at the airport)
You have the option of using local currency, nuevo sole, or US dollars, and of course, the ubiquitous credit cards at the hotel and in most commercial establishments.
The hotel is very well located in San Isidro, Lima's nicest neighborhood and there are many good restaurants, shops and grocery stores within safe and short walking distance. For a quick and simple snack or meal I recommend a patisserie/restaurant about 100 meters from the hotel called La Baguette. The hotel staff is knowledgeable and will assist you in locating restaurants, shops, etc.
I found no significant downsides to this very good hotel.

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness, staff, breakfast
  • Disliked — On a busy street that is noisy during the day but quietens down at night
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for a room that is not on the main street; make airport pick up arrangements through the hotel; have cash 30 US dollars or equivalent in nuevo soles to pay the departure tax at the airport; always negotiate taxi fares before you get in; try ceviche and pisco, peru makes the best in the world!
