“Very good basic (not luxury) hotel, very modern decor, convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

We stayed here in May for 5 nights in Lima for a wedding. I agree with other posters that it's not a 5 star hotel, but it's definitely at least a solid 3+. I'd stay there again if I was staying in San Isidro, but next time I return to Lima I'll probably try to stay in Miraflores instead closer to the ocean.

We never had any problems retrieving our key at the front desk, in fact the desk staff and the doormen were extremely welcoming and helpful every time we went in or out. The breakfast was pretty good, room service was just ok (typical for hotel food), and I appreciated the amenities such as the extremely comfortable bed, safe, alarm clock, and bath supplies that we definitely didn't get at the hotels we stayed in after leaving Lima for Cusco and Aguas Calientes. The decor is very comtemporary and stylish. There was work going on at the hotel but we didn't get woken up by renovation noise (just by the birds who called to each other right outside our window at dawn every day).

The hotel gets a lot of people who fly to Cusco and MP before returning to LIma for another night and they are very good about storing bags, we had 5 friends who stored luggage and nobody had any issues.

The business center has a printer and 3 computers with internet access, but they weren't always working every day. The location near the Wong grocery store, Starbucks and a bunch of other restaurants on the gringo cirlce was a definite benefit for picking up food and drinks when we just wanted something quick, but mostly we ate out with friends in Miraflores. Of the restaurants whose names I can remember...Las Brujas de Cachices (sp?) had excellent typical Peruvian food, I was very sad we didn't get back to LeMar to eat after having cocktails there, and the restaurants at Lorcomar plaza can't be beat for the view (food was good but not spectacular).

The one issue we had was that a lot of taxi drivers didn't seem to recognize the hotel by name. It seems it changed names recently, so make sure you take a card from the front desk with the address with you when you go out.

“Avoid at all costs”

The hotel isn't half bad. The beds are comfy, and some of the rooms are - well, roomy. But that's about all you're going to get!

The service is horrible. The front desk lost my room key at least twice, forcing me to wait in the hall for a bellhop to go open the room.

On another day, curious about security, I asked for the key to a suite that wasn't mine - and they gave it to me!!! A friend of mine asked for MY key, and they gave it to him!

Don't leave anything valuable anywhere near your room.

As far as resting, sleeping, or working - forget it. We were treated to the sound of jackhammers ripping up concrete in the room next to ours all day long. This place is guaranteed to disappoint - and give you a headache.

“Worth to stay”

Nice standard hotel. I spend 2 nights there, and I had a pleasant stay. Room amenities are not great thing. Bed and pillows are quite good. Bathroom is good. You can find WiFi at the lobby and restaurant. Food is very good an cheap. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Single room cost usd 100+taxes. San Isidro neighborhood is very nice. There are some good restaurants just few block from hotel. You can also find a great commercial area on the Ave. Conquistadores 5 block from there. Star Bucks, McDonalds, TGIF, and other locals restaurants, cinemas, bookstore, and other just arround the corner. Even though, hotel street is very quite.

“Great service and comfortable bed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

We stayed 5 nights at the NM Lima and had a very good experience! We booked 2 rooms (2 couples), and they had a special for 40% off if you pay with American Express, so we ended up paying $72 per room including buffet breakfast, plus some taxes (note that foreigners are except from the 18% hotel tax, but you still need to pay 10% service tax). We had great service, and because the hotel is not very big, the staff recognized us and our local friend who came to pick us up everyday at the hotel, which gave a more personal touch.

The room is not very big but is was big and comfortable enough for us, as we did not spend much time in the room. The most important part is that we had a huge bed which was quite comfortable. It was larger than our King size bed at home, because they had put two large mattresses together, but because of the padding, etc, you can't tell until you look underneath. The bathroom is a normal size hotel bathroom, nothing luxurious or out of the ordinary, but it was very clean.

There's a very large high-end supermarket within walking distance of the hotel, where we got bottled water, snacks, etc. Also, there's a few restaurants in the area and a McDonald's and a Bembos (a fast food chain that's the "Peruvian McDonalds" and much better than McDonalds next to it)... Definitely try eating the your fries with the hot sauce "Aji" combined with Mayo and Ketchup... it's great!! Lima is a place with many great restaurants and so there's no need to go for fast food, but we just wanted to try it to see the difference.

We ate at many great restaurants and at very affordable prices (many of them not listed in the travel guides) and it's definitely a place were serious "Foodies" should go and try great food from a variety of cuisines (and most important, very fresh - so things tastes like they are supposed to).

We stayed at this hotel after a 2 week tour of Peru, and we loved this hotel. We had stayed at another hotel for 1 night at the beginning of our trip, but even though the room was much larger, we definitely prefer the NM Lima because the decor is more modern, everything was very clean, and the service was great. The hotel also arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport the day we left - it is cheaper to pay the taxi directly than charging it to the hotel bill. The cost of the the taxi by paying directly was the same as what our friend who lives in Lima pays, so we know they didn't overcharge us.

The NM Lima is not a luxury hotel, but we felt very welcome and comfortable (and we are very particular about receiving high quality products and services), which is what is important to us. We think it's a very good hotel in the price range (regular price was $120 - $160 per night)... if you want to pay $300 or more for a more luxurious hotel, you can definitely find some, but we think the NM Lima provided us with good value.

  • Liked — Great Service, cleanliness and comfortable bed
  • Disliked — It's on a busy street, so some rooms could hear traffic during busy times

“Just 3 STARS”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2007

This is a small hotel, located in a nice neighborhood. Service is OK, the place is very clean, BUT this is nothing more than a 3 STARS hotel. Rooms are average, beds are really small, furniture is basic. In short: nothing special at all (so don´t expect anything more than a basic room in a basic hotel). Considering the price, 80-90 USD (Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia), I would pay a little more (15-30 USD) and try somewhere else.
