i have stayed at the hotel melodia several times and before it was quite ok the rooms were clean and there was always hot water and the breakfast was a nice choice of a buffet which was all fine, only a room and breakfast but fine, then when i returned there was no longer a buffet you just had to take what they served you but still it was not to bad but now they are cutting corners badly the room was in a state of disrepair and the breakfast had shrunk down to two dry rolls with not enough butter for both ,, this hotel is going backwards so i dont think i will stay again as i felt insulted this time its a shame they had good prospects

Basic hotel.
Rooms on the streetside: very noisy because of a 8 lane trafficroad.
Car drivers habit: using the horns every minute of the day/evening/night.
breakfast: good.
service: at the desk, very helpfull.
5 km. to the center.

Let's see here...
1) Advertised as close to the airport... NOT...
2) No air conditioning...
3) Asked for a room that was away from the street.. (asked in fluent Spanish)... And of course, we got a room with the street noise...
4) Rooms small and dirty...
5) Mattrress are hard as a rock..

If you do ever stay in this hotel... I can give you one great suggestion. Ask for one with a fan.... The fan will not only cool down the room but it will drown out the street noise... Our room had a fan THANK GOD...

We stayed there twice - the night we arrived in Peru before setting off for Cusco and for a night at end of our vacation. The noise and smell from the 8-lane roadway in front and the neighborhood was almost unbearable. We did not sleep at all, even after we bought earplugs for our second stay. I asked multiple times for a quieter room the second stay but they offered us nothing in the higher floors nor in the back of the building (and don't even know if this would have helped).

The people were very nice and the rooms very clean, but they could not make up for the location and the total lack of soundproofing. It was like sleeping in the middle of the street. I wish we could have cancelled the second reservation but we had prepaid our travel agent who recommended this hotel.

Also beware, although we were charged $30 charge for transfer to and from the airport and we had a lot of problems with the limo company forgetting to pick us up (3 out of 4 times we were to use them). At one point the nice woman at the desk at the Melodia had to flag down a taxi and pay them to take us to our flight.
