“Que Buena La Vista”

I arrived without any type of reservation, as I decided to go to Lima a day earlier than planned. After six days of budget hotels in Chiclayo and Trujillo, I needed comfort!!!!The receptionist was very kind and found a weekend rate, ocean view, and high floor. The bed was SO comfortable, especially after the rock hard beds of N. Peru. Everything in the room functioned perfectly. I had room service dinner and breakfast, which were excellent and timely. The lobby was stunningly decorated for Christmas. There were strolling musicians in the restaurants as I wandered by. The shops downstairs were nice and convenient. I walked across the street to the mall and found a couple souveniers. Everyone was in a festive mood. Lots of security at the mall, so I felt very safe. I took a taxi to the Indian Market and found some nice items. Always, always bargain for items and the taxi costs. I speak OK Spanish and was able to negotiate quite well. I only stayed one night because I had a cruise the next day. I did return to shop the day we were in port. Stern, the jewellery store in the Marriott, runs a FREE shuttle bus between the hotel and the cruise ship. Most people took the shuttle and didn't even window shop at Stern's (a pity!).

Room Tip: High floor, Ocrean View!!!

“Lovely in Lima”

The Marriott in the tony Lima area of Miraflores is exceptionally well located just across the street from the new underground shopping area. The views of the coast line from the rooms are amazing. Rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. All the staff was extemely helpful-we left luggage there since we had to downsize our luggage for a portion of the trip-no storage charge. the breakfast buffet was the best of our entire trip; luscious tropical local fruits and much more. The bar/lounge with cocktails and light bites and the friendly and competent staff was a great gathering place and perfect spot for a timeout. Walking distance to some great restaurants too.

Room Tip: The corner king rooms were spetacular.

“Nice hotel, connected to a casino”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This hotel has a nice location, directly across the street from the beach and mall, and is connected to a casino.

The staff are welcoming and friendly.

The internet is a bit slow at times, and the rooms were slightly smaller than I was expecting.

Nothing special in the bathroom.

The lounge was acceptable, but again nothing to brag about there.

Pool area was small, but nice.

Staff were friendly.

When I rate this as average, I mean average for a JW, obviously its quite nice compared to a courtyard, etc.

“You get what you pay for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Ocean view is a must. Excellent location, overlooking Pacific coastal mall. Concierge level manager's room have fantastic views, and good bfast & snacks. Pricey though. Concierge level brings it over the top. Private cars-taxis available, even for pick up, which makes it easy and safe.

“Better Values Available”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

The oceanside location is great, but the Radisson around the corner is a better value. Everything is too expensive at the Marriott, and the value isn't there. The shower stalls have mold, and for the price, one expects luxury. The restaurant is noisy--not a good choice for the travel weary, but you can ask to be served in the lounge, which is much nicer. The service is good, however. The Westin isn't next to the ocean, but if that is not an issue, it is a better value.
