“Sweet people, friendly atmosphere, excellent value for Miraflores”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

I was looking for a good value, no-frills hostel at which to spend a week in Lima, and I found K'usillu's after an extensive search of the area on foot. The staff were very kind and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. I looked forward to the communal breakfasts every morning at which an array of international travelers chatted and shared their adventures.

The location is excellent, also--one block from Parque Kennedy, with many amenities (laundry, groceries, ATMs, good restaurants) very nearby.

Highly recommended!

“Convenient & good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

This is nice and a well run hostel in a good location in Lima (in Miraflores). It has everything you need as a backpacker! Starting with a pick up/drop off to the airport (you need this in Lima, as distances are long and it's difficult to negotiate prices with the local taxi drivers unless you know the price you should pay for the ride). The hostel is in a very central location in Miraflores, across the road from a big supermarket. The hostel has large rooms (we had hot water), a big common kitchen, breakfast included in the price and a very nice roof terrace. The owner Ricardo was very helpful, although the other staff didn't speak any English so you if needed help and you didn’t speak any Spanish you had to wait for Ricardo to arrive.

“Good place to crash for the night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

We stayed here two nights. Once for the night before we flew to Cusco and once after we flew back from Cusco.

We never really saw the city or explored Lima or Miraflores.

Pros: Hostel was clean, there was hot water, thin towels were provided, beds were nice, wifi internet in the lobby, we used the airport transfer $14 each way both times when we were picked up at night and dropped off the next morning. When our flight was delayed coming back from cusco for 5 hours, we didn't expect the airport transfer to be there, but sure enough, it was. Little to no english is spoken by the staff, but they were helpful in directing us to get chifas (chinese food in the area)

Cons: thin (really thin) towel, breakfast is from 8:30 to 11, so we missed it both times because we left for the airport around 7am each time. It would have been nice for them to have provided a little breakfast to-go for us.

Overall, I recommend this hostel to someone looking for a place to crash for a night or two. We didn't experience any nightlife or much of Lima at all, so I cannot really comment about that.

“Very brief stay, but left with an excellent impression”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2010

We arrived at K'usillu's after 11pm right from the airport and would be leaving the next morning before 8am to go right back to the airport. Upon arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly staff person. Despite knowing how brief our stay would be, he made sure to run down all the amenities of the hostel, breakfast time, accessible kitchen, common areas, wifi connection info, etc. Additionally he provided us with a map of Miraflores, and wrote detailed notes on it about where the hostel was located in relation to major sites or attractions.

The hostel is just a few blocks from Parque Kennedy, the center of Miraflores, featuring numerous restaurants, cafes, and artisan markets all within short walking distance.

Our room itself was nice, no thrills, hostel room. The bathroom however featured one of the best showers we had in Peru, and one of the best showers I've had anywhere. Definitely a pleasant surprise after spending several hot sweaty days in the Iquitos jungle and then being on an airplane.

My only minor complaint was that our room was a little close to one of the common areas, so when some other travellers came back to the hostel from what I assume was a night of drinking, they hung out for awhile in the common room, and it was a little loud in our room.

“First night in South America”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

Being our first night in a hostel in SA, was at first a bit of a culture shock especially after staying in the Holiday Inn in Sydney the previous night, Glad to have arranged beforehand to be picked up at the airport, as we were pretty tired.
After getting over the first night in a good size private room, we were happy to stay the next night before heading south the next day. Helpfull staff and great location.
