“Miraflores House - Great stay in hectic Lima”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at the Miraflores House for three nights, 2 more than we had planned. The hostel has great rooms, a splendid common area with lots of stuff to do (instruments, tons of DVD´s, TV, books, fast internet), but most of all a great owner who know everything about Lima and Peru in general. Francis was of great help to us when we were planning our further travels in Peru, making phonecalls for us and giving tips about how to spend our time.
The hostel has clean rooms (with television and dvd-player), clean sanitary and good staff. The girls on Francis´ staff didn´t speak English very good but they were learning, and Francis speaks excellent English. The hostel is relatively quiet, and the location is very good (near to everything you would need). Breakfast is included but a bit plain. Overall good value.

Room Tip: Third floor, first room on the left is great.

“miraflores house- the best place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

On arriving at Miraflores House at the beginning of our holiday my friend and I were very stressed, my rucksack had been left in amsterdam and we had spent 2hrs in the airport filling in paperwork and my friends passport was missing. Francis arrived to reception and was amazing. Francis called the airport and the taxi rank (we had arranged through francis from the airport). After we offered a reward the passport was returned within an hour. My bag was not so lucky...it arrived 2 days later, francis called the airport and took me there to collect it which was about 45 mins away, on arriving at the airport we were told that KLM was closed so I was very upset but francis was lovely and on returning to the hostel my bag was there. The rooms were clean, francis was always on hand to help or offer tips on where to go and what to see, we stayed here on our last night before flying home and it was the best end to a fab holiday. I would definately recommend this hostel, it's a fab place to meet people and to share and learn about different things to see and do. Francis definately makes this hostel a brilliant place.

“Exceeded expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

I stayed in this hostel for 5 nights at the end of my time in Peru and it was by far the best hostel I've stayed in. It was a breeze to book, the owner Francis responded to all the questions I had via email really promptly and the price was so cheap. The facilities were great, a well stocked kitchen, more DVDs than you could possibly imagine (that could be watched in the comfy communal area or in my room) book exchange, surf boards, bicycles, computers and free wifi - all could be used as often as you wanted and for free! Not to metion a free pisco sour every night. Francis was so helpful, he did so much for me - organized a tour (and gave me back the commission he was entitled to), arranged for my washing to be done because I couldn't get to the laundry that day, and scanned a bunch of papers for me to send to my bank in Australia after I had some money stolen. I really felt at home, Francis was great with introducing people at the hostel with each other and honestly cared about your time in Lima. So happy I stayed here and would do so again in a heartbeat. Great location, close to restaurants, supermarkets, bars, coffee shops, buses, shopping etc.

“Like staying with an old friend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here for four nights at the end of our visit to Peru. We had reserved ahead of time and had already received many good safety tips from Francis before arriving. We were greeted like old friends, offered a Pisco Sour and sat around a table with other guests while Francis explained the different areas of Lima, how to travel around town, what to visit etc. And provided us with maps showing the safe areas for tourists. We had previously spent a few nights in Lima at a hotel only a few blocks away but learned more from Francis at the Miraflores House in the first hour after we arrived than we had during the entire stay at the hotel.

The location was great, even though it's on a busy street, and within easy walking distance of many good restaurants, shopping areas, parks and the beach.
We heard good things about the quality of the breakfasts but had just too many places we wanted to eat around town so did not end up eating here. The room was adequate with a private bath. We were on the main floor so access was easy and we were in and out a lot during the day. The hostel itself is well secured with a locked gate and guests are buzzed in at any time of night or day.

Francis, the owner, is almost always around to answer questions, make reservations, call taxis etc or just to chat about your day if you're in the mood. We felt like we were visiting an old friend who was very proud of his city and country and was anxious to share it with everyone.

Free internet service and drinking water. Access to kitchen, dining and living areas.

This is a hostel that I would highly recommend to young or inexperienced travelers due to the great travel and safety tips offered free of charge and the secure location.

Excellent value.

We have a higher than average rating because we have higher than average standards. Besides our great location in Lima's top neighborhood of Miraflores, we offer comfort, hospitality and - most of all - a friendly staff that's always ready to help, whenever you need it. The prices for rooms are often quoted in dollars but we accept only soles, please made your booking in Peruvian soles in these web site.

“Really good hostel with a great owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

Really nice hostel in a safe area of Lima.
Francis, the owner of the hostel, is a really nice guy and a great help for organizing tours and trips all over the country!
Very clean rooms and the breakfast is included.
Drinkable water is available on all floors of the hostel.
We really recommend this hostel if you come to Lima and need some help with organizing things in Peru.
