On my November trip to Iquitos, I stayed at the Hotel Acosta for 5 nights and got a much better feel for the place. Surprisingly, my regard for this small hotel rose after spending more time here. It's still not the fanciest hotel around, but it's quite comfortable. The TV, mini-fridge, in-room safe, and balcony all made for a very pleasant stay. The room was considerably larger this time, though they gave me a double (2 twin beds) instead of a single bed. I never took advantage of the free breakfast, but it looked to be typical continental fare with coffee, juice, and breads. The staff was extremely helpful. I checked in about 8:30 in the morning and they let me stay several hours past checkout when my departing flight was delayed. It was very safe with 2 men working at night -- one was always outside on the street as you approached the hotel, but the neighborhood is safe anyway.
