I have been to Iquitos several times. I tried out La Pascana because it is close to the Plaza de Armas and the price was right. I stayed one night and split. Aside from being pretty grimy, (I hate roaches, especially those big ones) this place had a very bad vibe. Not friendly at all. Rude to any local or non-whites who came by looking for a room. Really unpleasant experience.

The Hospedaje La Pascana is a good value lodging option for budget travellers in Iquitos. The staff are very friendly and also very helpful in planning jungle excursions and recommendations for local dining and attractions. The rooms are clean, have mosquito screens on the windows, no hot water (but the cool showers feel great in the tropical climate). There is a secure place to leave luggage while exploring the town and jungle, and they also arrange transportation as needed. Although the hospedaje does not offer breakfast, there is a calm little courtyard with tables and several convenient restaurants nearby. The location overall is quite nice, practically on the riverfront and only 2 blocks from Plaza de Armas, and it is quiet at night. We highly recommend La Pascana for an enjoyable and worry-free stay in Iquitos!
