“Amazing Wildlife-Superb Accomodations-Powerful Shaman”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I have returned to Yarapa River Lodge again and again and again. The proof is in the pudding, as we say! The knowledgeable naturalist guides bring the flora and fauna up close and personal...a feast for the senses! Tasty food and clean accomodations make the jungle experience easy...worries about health issues disappear. The Lodge is set on a peaceful and pristine part of the Yarapa River...pink dolphins right out at the end of the dock! My husband and I put the healing services of the Lodge shaman to good use...ancient Amazonian shamanic rituals and healings all week long...we feel great! I personally wouldn't even think of using another area lodge, I'm awed and deeply touched by the entire Yarapa River Lodge experience.

I've visited many lodges and camps to see wildlife, from Madagascar, southern Africa and Brazil to Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi. The Yarapa River Lodge is quite special. The guides are terrific and their is much wildlife to see. Here is a set of shots from my trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/19441530@N08/sets/72157625282029744/

“One of the best experiences we have ever had”

We have traveled to over forty counties over the past twelve years. Lasy year we spent three weeks driving a rental car over 4000 kilometers through southern Peru. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to travel back to Peru and visit the Amazon Region for a week and drive a rental car through nothern Peru for two weeks. We spent quite a bit of time researching the possible ways to visit the Amazon Region and finally decided upon Amazon Yarpa River Lodge after speaking with Dr. Mango on several occasions. It is a decision that we will never regret and an experience we will always cherish. We flew from LAX to Lima where we spent one night. Then we flew to Iquitos on Star Peru Airlines where we stayed at the El Dorado Hotel and Suites as recommened to us by the Lodge. We were picked up by Victor the next morning and driven to Nauta to catch our boat to the Lodge. Over the next four days and three nights we had experiences that we had never dreamed of having. We fished and caught Pirhana, we took jungle walks during the day and night, we canoed and were taken down small streams and other rivers, we observed 58 different bird species and 38 different animal species. We ate superb food that was prepared by a four star chef. We even spent time in the kitchen watching the food being prepared. The staff was so attentive to our needs, willing to help with anything, and always amenable to show us or explain what we were interested in. Our guides Julio and Plaz were the best. The staff educated us about the people who live in the Amazon Region and their way of life. Our trip to the Amazon Yarapa River Lodge was a life changing experience.

Room Tip: It is the best possible for a Lodge in the Amazon Jungle!

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

From the time we arrived at the airport in Iquitos to the time we left we were totally taken care of. This was our first adventure into the jungle and I can't imagine a better experience. You could not have asked for a better staff; the food was excellent, rooms kept very clean, safe transportation (both on land and river), ice cold beer and comfy hammocks! The 3 excursions per day were like being part of a National Geographic video. We were not in the boat on our first excursion 2 minutes and we saw our first of many sloths! Toucans, pink dolphins, caymen, the list is endless! Our guide, Naycer, knew everything and then some about the plants and animals of the region. The trip to the local village was an experience that I will never forget. Dr. Mango, Victor, Naycer, Blas and the rest of the staff, thanks for making Arapa River Lodge a true Amazon experience, don't change a thing!

“You will be happy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2011

I don't need to add anything extra to the excellent feedback this lodge has already received. At first I thought it too be a little expensive but after the full experience I was very well satisfied. Food is excellent! The guides will pretty much find all the animals you want to see. Its situated in an amazing location. Well worth it!! If you need some time our from society this is the place to spend it!
