“Excellent discorver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I stayed 3 days in Muyuna lodge and everthing was perfect : room with a very good bathroom even in the jungle, food (varity, quality), the boat and of course the attraction. Thanks to the guide Rafael who can see the animals even very far away. They take care about environement and your safety (in the jungle, it was my priority).

“Authentic January nature experience to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed at Muyuna for 4 days and 3 nights. We warmly recommend the lodge. Getting there took 3 hours by a fast boat from Iquitos. The lodge was in the middle of nowhere, which in our opinion was great. You could see animals all around and not many people.

There were lots of activities. On the 2 full days we had 3 nature excursions on each day. We were both hiking, canoeing and boating. The hiking and canoeing were especially interesting. We were there right after New Year's and apparently there were less animals to see than in dryer seasons. Still we were happy with our sightings. There were quite a few monkeys, pink dolphins, sloths and giant frogs, just to name a few examples. We had the same guide for our whole stay and he was very good. He had an amazing eye for spotting animals. We did the excursions in small groups of 4-5 people. Everything was done respecting the environment.

The cottages were nice and comfortable. Much of the wall was made of just mosquito net so you could every sound of the jungle. Sleeping in the middle of jungle sounds was something we'll never forget. We slept great even with quite a bit of sound coming from the outside.

“Excellent choice for us.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

My husband and I stayed 5 nights/6 days at Muyuna Amazon Lodge, Peru in November, 2011. We found great care was taken in all aspects of our stay. Our correspondence with the office in Iquitos really got be convinced that the Lodge is well organized. Emails were clearly written with excellent support documents outlining what to expect, what to bring, etc. The food was carefully prepared to be tasty, varied and plentiful. We enjoyed the fish cooked for us that we had caught! The guide (ours was Moises) was totally knowledgeable of all the birds and land life. He took great care each outing to ensure that we were able to view as much wildlife as possible. He showed great respect for the environment and the local people/community who live near the lodge. He made our trip an excellent learning experience. Each day we were always treated to surprises as we explored the waterways nearby. Very fun stay! We went in low-water season so we hiked and boated. We enjoyed the variety. Be prepared for mosquitoes. Our bungalow was kept very clean and was comfortably appointed. We have travelled a good deal around the world and we consider our time at Muyuna well spent and a good choice. If you're considering Muyuna Lodge, I would recommend it to anyone. Very good value. Thanks Muyuna staff. :-)

Room Tip: We stayed on the "front row" facing the river. It's very pretty at night looking out...

“First class jungle experience”

After a strenuous 8day trek in the Andies, it was a treat to spend 6days at Muyuna Lodge. The accommodations were adequate and the food was excellent. Some of the food came from a nearby jungle village. Boris, Muyuna's manager, worked hard to make guest stays enjoyable and care free. the guides were absolutely terrific. I am still amazed how they could spot wildlife for us to see. My thanks to guides Cleaver and Ceasar. Overall, a very relaxing and exciting experience. I was there in early November. A good time to go because the bugs posed little problems and rain did not interfere with our activities. The downside, however, is that the jungle is dry this making it harder to spot animals. however, the low water levels concentrated the birds ( so many varieties) along the river.
A health note: according to the staff there is no need to worry about malaria inthe area around Muyuna.
