“Best place to stay in Iquitos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

I have been to Iquitos 15 times in the last year for work and have tried several hotels and always come back to the Victoria Regia. None of the hotels in Iquitos are up to US standards but this one is the best - particularly when you consider the price. This is the hotel I choose when visiting the Amazon with friends/family. Two negatives: (1) the hotel is further away from the main square than the Dorado Hotel but you can get a mototaxi for 2 soles (5 minute ride). (2) It is noisy on the front side of the hotel. Every time I check in, I ask for a room in the back and they have always had one available. The breakfast is good and the staff are friendly and helpful - although knowing some simple spanish helps a lot with communication.

“Super staff and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

Stayed with my wife for two nights in August. Hotel was being renovated to high standard ...3 star US standard....one problem was that our room smelled of something strong, could have been adhesive of formaldhyde!
We were woken at 2am by a woman scream for help and called reception who said it was nthing. The next morning no one knew anything eventhough other guests had heard the same screams.
Staff are fantastic!

“Suspicious”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2009

Stayed there for two days, at first they give me old room not worth the money I paid, ask for trekking in joungle they call some guy we made agreement, watch out in trekking for your money, they will rob you, butt not all the mony you got only if you have like
10x100 US they will take 3 or 4 bills. The hotel at the end said that this is not their lodge and cant do nothing about it. But in the beginig they have provided the guy for treking and we paid in hotel reception. The guide in treckig was Timo
Never go back to this place again.

“A fine welcome back to urban energy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2009

I easily checked into the Victoria Regia mid-week for one night after (11) days in the rainforest and was not dissapointed. My room was comfortable, clean and the air conditioner blew a cool refreshing breeze whenever I desired. The linens, towels and water closet are top shelf and the televison must have (30 - 40) channels. Prospero Street is right around the corner and there is plenty of action up and down that safe and friendly boulevard. The main plaza, Belen Market, Big Yellow Rose of Texas (well priced local juke joint for beers/burgers, amongst many other edibles and libations), and the river front are a short easy walk away. Around a $3.00 scooter ride to and from the airport. Staff is friendly and courteous and the continental breakfast is fresh, tasteful and more than sufficient. It's true, the joint was a little noisy that night but ear plugs solved a minor situation. All and all, excellent value for your money, thinks I.
Without a doubt. I'll be crashing here next trip down.

“not worth the money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2009

For the price charged there are better places to stay. The breakfast here was ok but very ,limited and the beds were just terrible. I booked a junior suite and was given a room with 3 beds and that's all they said was available and no hot water for 2 of the days there. The only good thig was the location was central so we could walk a few mins to the square.
