Look... there are NO great hotels in Iquitos and very few GOOD hotels... for these you pay dearly. I aske my friend who lives in Iquitos for a quite, clean hotel next to the Plaza, as this is where the best city life is to be found. She recommended the Ambassordor with a caveat ... do not expect much. I asked for the corporate rate (this is usally 30 to 40% off the rack rate) and I ended up paying 70 soles for a single room. The best rooms are upstairs. The room is barebone basic, but it was quiet at night... a huge plus for this part of Iquitos. The sheets are cleam but cheap and worn. Towels are clean and good. Hot water and AirCon. The breakfast is pathetic.... I really liked the location and could have paid three times more and moved up a notch but it was not worth it.... I would not bring my wife here but would stay here again if by myself. Conditionally recommended.
