“could have stayed elsewhere!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

The hotel was conveniently located near the plaza. The staff was very friendly but werent fluent in english to help with some of our questions. Wifi was awesome.

Most of the rooms faced the lobby and hence the noise from the lobby. If you are a light sleeper, do not get this hotel or carry ear plugs with you. The triple we stayed in was pretty small.

We spent most of the our time in the lobby ( rooms are too small to hang out in ) or walked around Cusco. Breakfast was way better than expected. Some of the best coffee we tasted in Peru.

yes it is an old colonial bulding, beautiful inside, but i think they must renew some parts or need to think something to fix the noise that comes from the lobby, i couldnt get a good sleep, some guest early in the morning woke me up near my room,
breakfast is very good and the staff are very helpfull, and they are the reason i dont rate this hotel lower

“Beautiful Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2007

The somewhat imposing, large exterior does not prepare you for the beautiful, airy, eclectically-furnished interior. There are are comfortable chairs, couches, fountains, and everywhere there is artwork. It is great lobby for sipping the free coca tea while acclimating to the high altitude. You'll feel like you are in an exterior space (and wonder why the couches and chairs don't get soaked in the rain). Everything is clean, and the stone floors gleam.

The rooms are clean, comfortable (with modern bathrooms), but nothing too special. With the beautiful lobby right there, and the attractions of Cuzco within walking distance--you won't want to spend much time in the room.

The continental breakfast, included, was good. Again, nothing too special, but tasty and fresh, and served pleasantly. It ends on the dot when they say it ends, so the last morning, when we slept a little late, we missed it and were disappointed.

The staff are attentive and exceedingly friendly. I saw a large tour from Japan arrive, and there was some discontent with one of the rooms given them, and the tour guide was screaming at the staff, who remained calm and worked with the hysterical guide to sort out the problem.

We spent three nights here, interrupted in the middle by an overnight in Aguas Caliente. At first they told us that when we returned from Aguas Caliente, they would have to move us to a different Cuzco hotel, because they were overbooked. I was disappointed and wary, because the Munay Wasi was so enjoyable. Luckily, they worked out the overbooking, and we did not have to switch.

“Great Hotel, Great Staff, Clean Rooms, Off the Plaza de Armas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2007

We stayed at the Munay Wasi Inn and the hotel was absolutely beautiful. It is a remodeled convent built with true Spanish charm and architecture.

Food: Breakfast included - great continental breakfast, never got sick!

Habitacion: Excellent room, clean, they even put a heater in your room while you are out at dinner so that it is nice and warm when you return, clean bathrooms, secure safe inside, quiet, extremely secure building with locked front gate after hours so that ladrones (thieves) do not enter - although this was not an issue as this was a safe part of town.

Service: Staff always had a smile on their face. Accomodated our travel plans. We even had plane tickets held at the front desk for when we returned from our 4 day trek to Machu Picchu and needed to stay one more night before going off to the Amazon.

Amenities: Internet included

Location: A bit off the beaten track but extremely safe part of Cusco. About a 5 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas. Easy to get taxi cabs from this hotel.

  • Liked — Friendly and helpful staff.
  • Disliked — After walking 26 miles on the Inka Trail, the 5 minute hike from Plaza de Armas to hotel seemed far.
