“Noisy and food poisoning”

While the lobby is beautiful to look at, its open design means that you can hear everything in your room! We were especially unfortunate in that our room was on the ground level but I'm not sure it would be any different on the upper floors. We could hear tourists talking in the lobby, the staff, the phones/buzzers, and our neighbors in the bathroom. Sleep proved difficult here. Staff were slow to respond to our needs. My husband became seriously ill after eating bad seafood in the hotel restaurant. Needless to say, we would not recommend this hotel.

“Wasn't my first choice but it was better than I thought.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

Hotel in fairly good location to train/bus station and airport. 10/15 mins to main square - 2 blocks up and 2 blocks over - although if you walk through the first 'alley' way there are a couple of cheaper restaurants with 'tourist meals' for 15sols. (starter/main and drink).

Rooms not bad size, bathroom good, plenty hot water, towels, hairdryer and tv with choice of channels (if wanted). Heaters in room. Room service good. Staff very helpful and some english understood. Breakfast not bad and served from 5.30 to 9 - but difficult to say if earlier was better than later with amount of food offered as we did both 5.30/6 and 8. Will not fried eggs, if scrambled not wanted.

Free coca tea in lounge, leafs and teabags. Lounge area light and airy, quite nice to rest in and some interesting pictures all around. Internet free with two terminals but only one currently works.

Resturant in hotel slightly expensive but so are most of the places around the square - at least considering what we had spent on food in other towns we thought it pricey. We ate at Pachumama, and at a Pizzeria just off the square next to Gato supermarket. The Dragon's Palette is situated down the road from the Puma water feature just off the square. Limo's (expensive but good) on the square and a little cafe opposite the Inca Museum - all good food and clean bathrooms.

On the down side the walls of the rooms are paper thin, my daughters and I could speak (loudly) to each other in our bathrooms which were side by side, it didn't spoil our stay it was funny and part off it but again ear plugs are a good idea if you want to sleep and obviously that will block out late showers/baths and people being poorly in nearby rooms.

Overall I enjoyed my stay in Cusco and I would recommend this hotel. If you stay for a few days have a good look around, San Blas is good, the Inca Museum (10sols) is interesting and there are plenty of churchs. Visit the Sacred Valley, Pisac and Ollytatambo, its a whole days trip but worth it and of course visit Machu Pichu (bus to Ollytaytambo and then train.

“Amazing Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2011

I had a large room with two beds, one double and one single, as a single room. The mattress was excellent, there was a reading lamp, there was a working TV, everything was very clean, the night was quiet and peaceful, the manager, Luis, is a perfect gentleman, sweet as he can be, and for 2 soles more than the 30 soles the room cost, I got breakfast, with an egg, bread, jam, butter, coffee and juice. The room was spacious and I felt like I could have stayed there a very long time, indeed. I loved the location, as outside the door, there is an expansive view of Cusco below, yet it is only 3 or so blocks to the central square. Just amazing value at this place. It was a bit less than $11 US/night. Also, you could use the computer in the office and there is wifi. I would definitely go back there. The only thing I cannot comment on is the shower and hot water, as I didn't use it (was only there one night; left early the next morning). I do know it is one of those electric showers . . . .

“could have stayed elsewhere!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

The hotel was conveniently located near the plaza. The staff was very friendly but werent fluent in english to help with some of our questions. Wifi was awesome.

Most of the rooms faced the lobby and hence the noise from the lobby. If you are a light sleeper, do not get this hotel or carry ear plugs with you. The triple we stayed in was pretty small.

We spent most of the our time in the lobby ( rooms are too small to hang out in ) or walked around Cusco. Breakfast was way better than expected. Some of the best coffee we tasted in Peru.

yes it is an old colonial bulding, beautiful inside, but i think they must renew some parts or need to think something to fix the noise that comes from the lobby, i couldnt get a good sleep, some guest early in the morning woke me up near my room,
breakfast is very good and the staff are very helpfull, and they are the reason i dont rate this hotel lower
