“Beautiful surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The Casa Andina Private Collection Cusco is a wonderful hotel with beautiful buildings and gardens. The rooms are not as nice as the surroundings, but still nice. I would rate this hotel as 4*.
Free internet is available and the buffet breakfast has a good range.
The hotel is in a top location as within easy walking distance to plaza de armas (5 minute walk). There are many dining options in the plaza.
The only downside of the hotel is it can be noisy because of the enclosed layout of the buildings and concrete pathways. Maybe try and get a level 1 room.

“Perfect Place in Cusco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel is the perfect spot in Cusco. Our family has been fortunate to stay in various hotels across this wonderful country of Peru during four separate visits over the past five years. I do not normally write reviews of hotels, as I have little to complain about and normally, most hotels go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay for their guests, especially in this age of "Trip Advisor" (which I think is brilliant service by the way).
All of the positive comments already listed here are quite true and this is a lovely hotel for anyone looking for old world charm with convenient location and helpful staff. After our four repeat visits to this particular establishment, I now feel very comfortable to now write and say that the staff are the primary reason for our return visit. It is a unique feature of an establishment that each and every staff member goes far out of their way to be helpful at every opportunity, without exception. Haveing travelled extensively around the world, it is quite rare that a hotel can consistently maintain such a high level of courtesy and attention detail, without "dropping the ball" at some point. This is truly an accomplishment and management should be congratulated. Well done. Hope they keep it up.
The main reason for our selecting this spot originally was its central location and the welcoming inner courtyard that provides the perfect spot to meet our friends and artisans that we have come to know in the area. It is easy to find and the fact that the hotel staff make our friends feel very comfortable in the courtyard, makes for a a very pleasant and special experience. After all, when travelling with a purpose, it is the people that you meet along the way, that make the journey memorable. Casa Andina has made it a memorable one for us, and we will definitely stay here again on our next return visit to Cusco. In the meantime, a very special "Thank You" to the staff who were so kind on our last visit. I do not remember all of their names, but especially the front desk staff , Lizandro, Yenny, Ramiro, and our friend Roosevelt! Thanks everyone. See you again sometime soon!

Room Tip: Try to choose a room, if possible, that surround the inner courtyard, as you enter the builidng.

“Best place to stay in Cusco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The Casa Andina Private Collection Cusco was a truly great place to stay and relax in the magnificent city of Cusco. The location is superb -- just a short walk from the central plaza, but far enough for a measure of calm. The meals and service are great, and the rooms are comfortable - location around the courtyards has the true feel of a grand Spanish court. Most outstanding, however, was the incredible courtesy and helpfulness of the staff. Nothing was left to chance: if there were messages for you, they would come to find you; if you needed help with airlines or luggage, they knew the persons to call; if you needed transportation, that could be arranged in about five minutes. You will seldom be as well cared for at any place in South America. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are preferable - quieter.

“Average room, good location, superior service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

The room itself was average. Clean and spacious with nice, but not overly so, furnishings and decor. The courtyards and common areas, however, were beautifully decorated and not nearly as simple as the rooms. The location was good - situated between Qorikancha and the Plaza de Armas. Close enough to the plaza to be walkable, but far enough away for it to be quiet and peaceful. The service is what makes the hotel very good. Each and every staff member was completely attentive. The staff in the restaurant, where we ate five times (3 breakfast, lunch and dinner), were helpful with reccomendations and relatively fast. Plus, the food was quite tasty. The front desk staff and concierge were helpful in coordinating transfers, luggage storage, and anything else we needed. On our return from Machu Picchu, we even got upgraded to a suite! I would gladly stay here again.

“Sadly disappointed. Rooms are dark. Bit like staying in a posh motel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here for three non-adjacent nights in December 2011. The service was excellent, the lobby and adjacent rooms (with open fire and comfy sofas) straight out of a five star hotel. The buffet breakfast, though smaller than in some Casa Andina's we'd stayed in, very good. The only problem were the rooms. The two rooms we stayed in were both on the ground floor in the 'motel' style side of the hotel (to the right as you leave the lobby). I think they're cheaper than the rooms round the main glassed-in courtyard (straight ahead of you as you leave the lobby) but even so, they're not cheap!
These 'motel' rooms are laid out around two glassed-in landscaped courtyards. So far so good. Once inside however you discover they are quite dark. Even with the lights on.
The only window is at the front of the room, looking onto the corridor (not good for privacy, even with the net curtain across). Having to keep the curtain across keeps it darker still. The only natural light comes through this window. The electric lights in the room are not very bright. The bathroom is large but also dim.
The first room we stayed in was also cold (cold and dark...). I asked the front desk for a heater and they brought one promptly and courteously but being a small space heater it took a while for the room and the bathroom to warm up. The next room we stayed in was warmer but still not exactly warm. Perhaps the fact it was dark made it feel colder.
Having said this the other members of our small tour group who also stayed in these rooms had no problem with them. But if you are sensitive to light levels, want to take time out in your hotel room and you're looking for a hotel at this price, I'd stay somewhere else, particularly as there are five star hotels much closer to the main plaza than this one.

Room Tip: I'd go for the rooms around the main courtyard - which is straight ahead of you as you leave the...
