We (family of 4) had prepaid 2 nights here as part of a package. They couldn't accommodate us aside from 2 rooms with 2 twin beds each, despite making reservations months in advance and traveling in the low season. That was a very expensive option. When our flight to Cusco was cancelled we immediately had a friend call the hotel to let them know. when we finally arrived the following day, we were told that the phone call didn't matter and we were no-shows, forfeiting the hundreds of $ we had paid. We stood at the reservations desk with a representative of the travel agency, and they tossed the blame back and forth, eventually deciding they should both blame the airline to absolve themselves. It would have been comical if we weren't travel weary and it didn't cost us so much.
Finally we explained that we were going to spend an extra two days in Cuzco, so if they could even credit us a portion of the missed night we'd be happy. They held their line, so we went to a hotel around the corner where we had a much bigger room at half the price, and the staff were friendly and helpful. So the bottom line is that this place is expensive, yet has a level of incompetence and stubbornness that we didn't encounter anywhere else in our travels through South America, even at places far cheaper. Yes, they have a good breakfast spread, and they've done their utmost to make the place look like an ordinary roadside business hotel in the US, but there are much better options around Cusco.
