“Nice, quiet family hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

I stayed at the hotel with my wife, adult son, and 2 teenage daughters. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They were extremely accommodating, and during the breakfast buffet actually hovered around and refilled glasses, removed bowls, etc. The rooms were clean and large, if a bit rundown. The hotel is about 5 blocks from the plaza, and is MUCH less expensive than comparable hotels, so it was great value. Not much more expensive than a hostel, but much more room, privacy, etc.

“Don't leave ANYTHING of value in your room!”

While, at first site Q'Armenq'a is a nice hotel, centrally located and with a friendly staff, I left there feeling rather - for a lack of a better word, violated. If you do decide to stay in this hotel, beware of leaving anything at all of value in your room. I learned the hard way when I accidentally left my cell phone in a bag in the hotel room while traveling for the day in the Sacred Valley. It was well hidden in a pocket in one bag which was stuffed inside yet another bag. I shared the room with my parents and we all had luggage that was sorted through while we were away. Someone obviously went through great lengths to find what they were looking for. When I asked the staff about it I assumed they might be at least somewhat helpful. However, they were in complete denial over the incident and would not even ask other staff about it. While they had a chance to offer some consolation (maybe help write a police report) they did absolutely nothing to help. Of course I should have known better than to leave the phone in the room, and I let down my guard. Having said all of this, I must say that this 'bad apple will not spoil the bunch' for me. I love Peru and have been living and traveling there for several years, so it saddens me to write this less than edifying review. I hope only to warn you about this particular hotel and about the fact that petty theft continues to be a major problem in that Peru - especially in the tourist areas.

Very sad for what happened on that date, we regret everything that happened so it was decided to take all security measures such as security cameras in many places of hotel and get a quality staff well trained and skilled, so that for this way our guests feel safe, comfortable and a holder of hospitality.

“A nice hotel.....”

My wife and I stayed here for several nights while visiting Cusco. The hotel was selected by our tour agent at Turismo Inkaiko, so we did not have much say in the matter. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience. The staff are very accomodating. In fact, I would go as far as to suggest some of the most accomodating individuals in which I have dealt. One evening my wife and I ordered something that was not on the menu in the hotel restaurant and Mario (the hotel owner) went himself to the market to get the ingredients to have his cook prepare it for us. I would have just as well ordered something else, but this is the extent these folks aim to please their guests. Thank you Mario and staff! The rooms are well kept. I was not overly impressed with the bed, but most places we stayed in Peru had really hard beds. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The water was somewhat fickle. Sometimes it was cool/lukewarm for a long time and then suddenly piping hot and you could not adjust the water temperature! The hotel was quiet. The room itself was cool but comes with a small heater you can turn on if need be.
The hotel breakfast is not all that impressive. The hotel will serve you food as you request in contrast to other hotels we stayed at that had a large continental breakfast "buffet" prepared for each morning. To be fair, this is likely due to the fact we visited during the low (wet) season. The restaurant is quite large, so I suspect they get much busier in the high season. There is free internet service, though it is slow and the computer keyboard was in poor working condition. Location of the hotel is great. We were able to walk to the main square. Overall, a clean and comfortable hotel with exceptional service.
